BREAKING: House Passes Bill Averting Government Shutdown

We reported earlier that the Senate approved a stopgap measure to avert a shutdown of the federal government. It passed 77-18.

Now, the House has also approved the stopgap bill, which runs through March.

It passed 314 to 108, with 106 Republicans and two Democrats voting against it.

Congress will next have to deal with it in March.

The intense jockeying between House Republicans seeking deep spending cuts and Democrats comes amid a $34.4 trillion national debt that is rapidly escalating and has prompted worries in part because of the heavy interest payments now being borne by the Treasury Department.
This third stopgap funding bill, known as a "continuing resolution" or "CR," would simply extend last fiscal year's spending levels until two deadlines of March 1 and March 8 for completing action of spending for various government agencies.

They just keep kicking that can down the road with continuing resolutions, but then never deal with the deeper problems, or use the power they have to hold Joe Biden or the Democrats accountable on any of the issues--not on the border or anything else.
