There were a lot of people posting on X about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, given the federal holiday in his honor.
We've already reported on the post by the White House that has a huge historical falsehood in it, with Biden claiming he handpicked a bust of MLK for the Oval Office when, instead, it was brought to the Oval Office by Barack Obama. Not to mention the post also had a bunch of malarkey about Joe Biden's promise to be a uniter. It's incredible how he just keeps making up things that have no basis in reality to pander to people and pretend that he's done things he hasn't to pump himself up.

But maybe there's a contest in the Biden administration for the "worst MLK" tweet. Biden taking credit for something he didn't do is pretty bad. But the FBI acting like they've always honored King is another adventure into fantasyland.
This #MLKDay, the #FBI honors one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil Rights movement and reaffirms its commitment to Dr. King’s legacy of fairness and equal justice for all. pic.twitter.com/tj9EUoXsFK

This #MLKDay, the #FBI honors one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil Rights movement and reaffirms its commitment to Dr. King’s legacy of fairness and equal justice for all.
Now, of course, the problem with that is that the FBI hasn't always "honored" King — unless you consider surveilling him an "honor."
The Community Note just shredded them for the gall of that tweet.
The FBI engaged in surveillance of King, attempted to discredit him, and used manipulation tactics to influence him to stop organizing. King’s family believe the FBI was responsible for his death.
The FBI not only surveilled MLK, they tried to get him to commit suicide with things like this disgusting letter. They told him he had "34 days" left and that there was "only one way out for you."
You dropped something.

It's your 1964 letter that tried to convince King to commit suicide. https://t.co/sDFmv4MHvG pic.twitter.com/N5IRhcmnwp
It was 34 days before he was due to accept the Nobel Peace Prize that he'd won. They wanted him "done" before then.
The FBI had the nerve to “honor” MLK today.

The FBI spied on MLK and sent him letters encouraging him to kill himself. pic.twitter.com/E5rPOAz1Xq
Many called out the FBI's nerve for this tweet. Some also pointed out how the issues with the FBI continue to this day and that the politicization needs to be routed out. Unfortunately, now we have to have questions about a lot of intel/government agencies which have been compromised by politics.
Maybe they should have tried, "You can check the historical records. Nobody listened to Dr. Martin Luther King more than the FBI." https://t.co/NyYNeasmMh

In honor of #MLKDay the @FBI would like you to know they now spy on all Americans, not just civil rights leaders. https://t.co/pwBBdHnPH9
