Biden White House MLK Post Has Huge Pandering Falsehood in It

Joe Biden went out to do his "day of service" in Philadelphia in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The "day" consisted of under two hours of standing around talking to people at Philabundance, a place that provides hunger relief. He was supposed to be packing apples into boxes but didn't seem to be getting a lot of work done in the short time he was there. Then he also tried to creep on an 11-year-old girl. He also had such an empty-eye look while holding up apples, it's bound to make its way into memes.

Biden's Empty Eyes As He Holds Up Apples Is Going to Inspire Memes

That was the only "work" on his public schedule for the day, yet another day — going on 24 days now — with only about four things on his schedule.

But that wasn't the only problem he had for the day. There was also a controversy over a post on X by the Biden White House. Biden has a habit of making things up out of whole cloth; it's been a problem all of his public life. There are a variety of reasons why, I think, including trying to make himself seem more than he was, as well as pandering to whatever audience he wants to appeal to.

But as our friends at our sister site, Townhall, observed, now it's spreading to the official White House account as well. The official account posted the following.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s bust sits inside the Oval Office — handpicked by President Biden — as a reflection of President Biden's promise to America: to restore the soul of America, to rebuild this country from the bottom up and the middle out, and to unite it,

Except there's a small problem with that story, as there often is with Biden stories.

The bust by Charles Alston was first brought to the White House by Bill Clinton and placed in the White House library. But it was Barack Obama who brought it to the Oval Office.

As the Washington Post reported at the start of Biden's term, "[b]usts of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy flank a fireplace" in Biden's Oval Office. The MLK bust first came to the Oval under President Obama, one that "Trump kept, though he moved it to a different area of the room," WaPo noted in early 2021.

About the most you could say is that Biden may have changed where it was in the room. But he didn't "handpick" it as the account post claimed. But hey, why let the truth get in your way when you're trying to pander for the holiday? So when he tells a falsehood as "a reflection" of his "promise to America: to restore the soul of America, to rebuild this country from the bottom up and the middle out, and to unite it," how much is his promise worth?

I think we can say isn't worth much. We've already seen what a "uniter" he is: from "put y'all back in chains" to now demonizing millions of MAGA Americans. We've seen how Democrats are "restoring the soul of the nation" by targeting their chief political rival and trying to have him booted off the ballot, so Americans cannot vote the person of their choice. Biden hasn't done anything to rebuild, but he's done everything to divide.

And they want to talk about a "threat to democracy" from Republicans?
