Wild Brawl Erupts As Anti-Israel Protesters Crash Dem Holiday Party in Detroit, Punch Woman in Face

Michigan's 13th Congressional District Democratic Party was holding their holiday gathering on Saturday evening at the Common Pub in Detroit.

But it didn't turn out to be full of holiday cheer. Instead, it turned into a full-out brawl.

When Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) started to speak, a woman on a megaphone who was not a guest started shouting "Ceasefire now!" and about 20-30 protesters who crashed the party joined in the chant. They were wearing "Free Palestine" shirts. According to Bridge Michigan which covers local news, the protesters were with the Palestinian Youth Movement and Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). The guests tried to get them to leave, but they wouldn't disperse. Things then went south when the guests tried to push them out of the restaurant.

WXYZ ran a report of what happened next, including local community leader Bobbie Avington-Johnson getting punched right in the face on camera by one of the protesters that you can see here.

Jonathan Kinloch, Chair of the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party, told the media, “The owner asked them to leave, I asked them to leave, they refused to leave, so they were removed from a place they had no business and no legal right to be in." He also posted a video of the incident and said Avington-Johnson was "badly injured" and hospitalized.

You can see how crazy it got, ironically up against "The First Noel" playing in the background. Other people were pushed and shoved around. Valerie Berra, a guest, said she was shoved against the bar.

Even after they were pushed out, they were still shouting and causing trouble. 90-year-old Bernice Smith blasted their actions to the media.

“They had their boots and shoes, banging up against the windows, and you can imagine how that sounds, and how fearful the people were, especially the senior people that was there.”

Smith was also caught on video whacking a protester with her cane, which she said was in self-defense. Self-defense can include the defense of others. In an unconfirmed video posted on X, a bloodied Avington-Johnston appears to chastise "Arabs" for hurting her and said black men had to stand up to this.

Thanedar said the protesters weren't going to gain support for their cause through such actions.

The police are investigating, but there have been no arrests yet. Chances that anyone will be held accountable here? I would say normally, not a lot — it's Detroit. But perhaps the "magical D" will result in some action in this case.

According to Bridge Michigan, Sammie Lewis who was one of the protesting activists said there was a generational divide.

“Our perspective is the older Black people who are more conservative Democrats in the 13th District, they don't represent Detroit,” Lewis said.
“They are bourgeoisie people who are complete traitors to the working class and the majority of Black people who are struggling. They don’t represent the majority of Black people in Detroit, they represent the system we’re fighting against.”

Protesters also showed up at Thanedar's home over the weekend, as we reported, harassing him in the middle of the night.

It's not hard to see why the Democrats are having problems in Michigan with such division and such craziness on the left. Leftist Democrats set this in motion by stoking such protest behavior, and now it's coming back to bite them big time. And it's hurting Joe Biden's numbers, as they are now behind Trump in Michigan, according to recent polls.
