Fetterman Pulls Lame Gag on GOP Over Impeachment Inquiry, but Decorum Gets the Last Laugh

As we've been reporting, the impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden got underway on Thursday in the House.

We saw Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) go to town on the Democratic talking point that there was "no evidence." We also saw Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) drop the hammer on the Democrats' hypocrisy and efforts to defend Joe Biden. Perhaps some of the funniest moments of the proceeding involved the effort by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to attack Republican expert witnesses because they didn't have firsthand knowledge of the facts of a crime. Add in AOC getting owned by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) after throwing a hissy fit, and it was an interesting day.

But the weirdest moment had to go to Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). Something is wrong with the guy and I'm not talking about the stroke. He seems to behave like a middle schooler throwing a tantrum in his relations with his colleagues, calling them all kinds of vile things, which is certainly a violation of decorum. Not that the man who inspired Sen. Chuck Schumer to throw out the dress code because Fetterman couldn't be bothered to wear pants cares much about decorum.

Now, that's a pretty lame attempt to distract from the impeachment inquiry. The guy needs to grow up because, in addition to pants, he needs to join adulthood. Maybe he's perpetually stuck in childhood because he lived off his parents for most of his life.

Plus, what is he saying about himself that he's touting Bud Light? And isn't he allegedly a senator from Pennsylvania, home of Yuengling, which he just threw under the bus with this move? That's not going to go over very well in his home state.

People had a few things to say about this behavior.

But in truth, the Republicans and Democrats who cared about decorum in the Senate delivered the last laugh to Fetterman already by smacking down the Schumer change to the dress code and axing the brief "Fetterman Rule." The Senate formally voted in a dress code for the chamber for senators.

So if Fetterman is going to take a step into the Senate chamber, he is now going to have to wear pants, like any other adult who is supposed to be serving his country in a serious job.
