HOT TAKES: Conservatives Blast the Twitter Blacklisting, Elon Promises Big Changes

We just reported about the release of the Twitter Files Part II. This release pertains to blacklisting, or what we’ve come to know as “shadowbanning.”

As journalist Bari Weiss detailed, conservative personalities like Charlie Kirk and Dan Bongino were “blacklisted,” with the visibility of what they were saying suppressed. Other people who said things against the narrative, such as for COVID, were also blacklisted, even if they were prominent scientists, such as Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.

All this was going on, even as Twitter denied it was happening. They claimed they didn’t shadowban, and they certainly didn’t do it based on political ideology. Yet, the files confirm it was going on.

Here’s what Jack Dorsey the former Twitter CEO told Dave Rubin back in 2020.

See, it wasn’t really suppression or shadowbanning, just “visibility filtering.” No one could see what you said.

Here was the lie, back in 2018.

Conservatives, particularly those who were revealed to have been blacklisted, were outraged.

Indeed, they likely knew it was coming, and that’s why Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) tweeted about taking “action” against Twitter for “hate speech”–without evidence and in violation of everything we understand about the government not being involved in suppressing speech.

That last tweet was so true, as we saw in 2020 with the Hunter Biden laptop story that may have impacted the election.

Libs of TikTok also was on the list.

Now, the next thing that needs to be dropped is how much the Democrats were involved in this blacklisting.

As I wrote the other day, America First Legal revealed there was a “secret portal” between Twitter and the government to do things like suppress COVID “misinformation.”

Who are the Nazis and the fascists here? Hint: it isn’t the Republicans who were trying to control and shut down speech.

But Musk said that new changes were coming, promising transparency to show people if they’ve ever been shadowbanned; if they have been in the past, there will be information on how to appeal it.

Considering the potential breadth of the censorship here, it would be hard to estimate how much this may have interfered in elections and all kinds of other discourse, in the U.S. and around the world. That’s why this revelation and reaction by Musk is so monumental: there’s now a level playing field, and this is why the left is so panicked.
