One of the problems with Twitter before Elon Musk was the decidedly liberal bent that the site had, even shutting down things like the Hunter Biden laptop story right before the 2020 election.

As my colleague Jeff Charles reported, Elon Musk found out that it was only folks on the right who were suffering permanent bans.

We’ve seen how much the liberals have been melting down, with some freaking out and fleeing the platform because it might no longer just be that liberal echo chamber and they seemed to fear the free speech that Musk said he wanted to ensure. Musk joked about the “hall monitor” journalists taking a powder.

FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver initially wrote: “Mastodon seems like a honeytrap for hall-monitor personality types. Honestly if Elon gets all the hall monitors to migrate to Mastodon that might be his greatest contribution toward the betterment of humanity.”

Musk swiftly responded to Silver’s post, seemingly approving the move. “What could be more fun than a social network consisting entirely of hall monitors!?” he asked

In a separate tweet, he added: “Hope all judgy hall monitors stay on other platforms – please, I’m begging u.”

But Musk found something in a “secret closet” at Twitter HQ last night that he had a big laugh about: a closet full of the hashtag “Stay Woke” t-shirts.

That says a lot about them right there and explains a lot about the liberal bent they had. There’s hard evidence. That may explain why the conservatives were the ones getting banned along with the Hunter Biden laptop stories.
