The DOJ/FBI appears to be at it with the questionable leaks again.
The left is flipping out for what seems like the millionth time at the latest “the walls are closing in on Trump” story.
Now, The Washington Post claims that the FBI seized documents during the raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.
A document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities, was found by FBI agents who searched former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and private club last month, according to people familiar with the matter, underscoring concerns among U.S. intelligence officials about classified material stashed in the Florida property.
Sorry, we’ve all been around the block on these stories, over these many years, and I no longer believe them.
How many times have we heard this now, and all of these stories turn out to be nonsense because it isn’t a crime to lie to the media? It’s also not a crime for the media to lie to us. Indeed, I think we should always apply the “48-hour rule” to any of these stories–from Russian bounties to claims that President Donald Trump called military “suckers and losers.” All these stories were false. Yet the left jumped on all of them and spread them without question. Indeed, they still believe most of these stories; truth and debunking don’t matter to them. Because the most important thing is pushing the narrative against Trump.
Not to mention, notice they don’t even say that the alleged document is classified or secret. For all we know, even if it were real, it could be a magazine article on Iran’s capabilities.
But more importantly, what we see here, once again, is an alleged leak from the DOJ/FBI — “people familiar with the matter” (aka “sources”). So, the very people who tried to block unsealing the affidavit because it might jeopardize the case — claiming that this was some kind of national security issue — are leaking like sieves to the WaPo? If this were national security material, they would be very wrong for leaking about it. Can we say how much they have jeopardized any credibility they may have had at this point with this kind of behavior? If this were sensitive material, looks like the material was far safer at Mar-a-Lago than in the hands of the FBI, if this is the kind of leaking they do.
Bottom line: the DOJ/FBI knows this isn’t going well for them and someone there is trying to jack up the anger against Trump.
We’ve had all kinds of whistleblowers screaming to Congress about how afflicted with bias the FBI has been — including regarding investigating Trump. This pretty much seals it when they do things like this, violating all kinds of rules and norms of the FBI.
