Another Trump-Endorsed Winner: Gibbs Pulls off Upset Victory Over Pro-Impeachment Meijer

During the 2016 race, some Democrats were pushing Donald Trump in the Republican primary because they thought he was more “extreme” and would be easier for Hillary Clinton to beat. We all know how that worked out.

They were at that again in the primaries this year. One of those races was in Michigan in the Third Congressional district between Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI), who supported the impeachment of President Donald Trump, and John Gibbs, his Trump-endorsed opponent. As we previously reported, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent hundreds of thousands to run ads for Gibbs. This, while they’re accusing the Trump candidates of somehow being “threats” to “democracy.”

But that’s the Democrats for you. Meijer gave them what they wanted in helping to impeach Trump, but then they threw him under the bus because they thought Gibbs would be easier to beat than Meijer. It showed, once again, how all the Democrats care about is power and control. For all they have praised Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), they would do the same thing to them if they got in their way, which is why throwing in with them is so despicable.

It’s unclear how much that may have mattered in the race, but Gibbs also had a lot of support and pulled off an upset victory against Meijer in a tight race. On Wednesday morning, Gibbs was ahead by almost 4,000 votes with about 88 percent of the votes in, and Meijer conceded. Gibbs is a former software developer who served in the Trump Administration as an acting assistant secretary in the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Both Gibbs and Trump celebrated.

“Fantastic night in Michigan! Tudor Dixon will be a great Governor. John Gibbs WON with a big surge in the end. Not a good time for Impeachers – 7 down, 3 to go! Thank you Michigan!” he wrote in the post.

Dave Wasserman of Cook Political Report moved the general election race from “toss-up” to “lean Democrat” because he thinks that increases the chances the Democrats will win.

Now, either way, it was going to be a tough race since they have redrawn the district, making it more Democratic and giving the Democrats a leg up. That’s the way that they think they can blunt the red wave that’s coming, with all the redistricting. With a big enough wave and strong support, I think he could pull it out, but there’s no question, given what they did to the district, that it’s going to be a challenge.

Republicans are going to need to get everyone out and not just take the red wave for granted. It’s coming, as I’ve said, but we have to make it happen and make it as big as possible.
