In the wake of the NY Times admitting that the Hunter Biden laptop was real, there are a lot of Republicans calling for action to probe into the allegations. But not only that, they want a probe into the cover-up by Big Tech, the media, the politicians, and the other officials involved in suppressing/smearing the story as Russian disinformation.
“The New York Times admits what we’ve known for years: the Hunter Biden laptop story was true. Big tech’s censorship of this story was a disgrace,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) tweeted Thursday morning.
“For decades, the Biden family has cashed in on Joe’s government service,” Cotton added in a subsequent tweet. “Even today, Hunter Biden is getting paid millions for his ‘artwork’ in a corrupt arrangement blessed by the White House.”
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) declared, “Tonight, I’m calling for a Congressional investigation into how big tech, mainstream media, and the Democrat industrial complex colluded to suppress the Hunter Biden scandals — and during the last days of the 2020 election.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) called out Biden, “Now that the New York Times has even confirmed the Hunter Biden laptop’s veracity, can we begin to admit that Joe Biden is, by definition, a compromised politician?”
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel called “accountability” from Big Tech.
Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) also said there needed to be congressional action.
“Big Tech’s censorship of a story the liberal media has now acknowledged to be true just proves that a Republican House majority must take meaningful action to rein in Big Tech censors next year,” she said. “All options should be on the table, including probes into their conduct and its impact on the Democratic process.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) agreed:
“The most basic accountability requires firing those responsible for the ‘Russian disinfo’ lie about the Biden family’s corruption, including and especially the former intelligence officials who were elevated to the top of cable news because they pushed wild and unsubstantiated Russia conspiracy theories about President Trump.
“Furthermore, Big Tech leaders who participated in censoring the truth should answer to Congress and the American people in sworn testimony,” he said Saturday.
As we previously noted, there were enough people who said they would not have voted for Biden had they known of the information to potentially have swung the election.
“There is very damning evidence that Hunter Biden sold his father’s access when his father was the vice president of the United States and that’s on his laptop and there is even evidence that then Vice President Joe Biden may have been in on this,” said Mike Davis, a former chief counsel for nominations for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“The president needs to clearly state right now that he will not interfere in any federal probe into his son Hunter, and he will not use his presidential powers — including the pardon power — to rescue his son if there are charges brought against Hunter.”
I’m glad that these Republicans are finally pushing for accountability now. But we’ve all known this for two years and yet we’re still stuck in this position with Joe Biden in office. We’ve also known what the Clinton campaign did in regard to smearing the Trump campaign with Russia collusion. There still hasn’t been accountability for that either, although the Durham probe is ongoing. The Biden Administration is even now trying to avoid the questions, despite the fact that they lied about the Hunter laptop being “Russian disinformation.” We need accountability on it all — that’s why it’s so critical to take back the government. Then have real accountability — not just years of investigations that go nowhere. All these people need to be put under oath and the “big guy” needs to answer up as well.
