Cheney, Kinzinger Finally Get Spanked and the Left, Never Trump Can't Deal

The Republican National Committee just voted to censure Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) for their involvement on the Jan. 6 Committee. They approved it out of committee on Thursday and voted to pass it on Friday.

This is the first time the national party has ever rebuked an incumbent congressional Republican – much less two – with a formal censure that is so backed by its members.

“This is not about them being anti-Trump,” Harmeet Dhillon, RNC national committeeperson from California, told Politico. “There are plenty of other people in the party who are anti-Trump whose names don’t appear in the resolution. These two took specific action to defy party leadership.”

Cheney has made clear the objective is to prevent Donald Trump from running again. But beyond their anti-Trump mania, they have also thrown Republicans under the bus in their efforts. Even though the Democrats refused to allow the Republicans to appoint the people they wanted to the Committee, Kinzinger and Cheney went along with the Committee and threw in with the Democrats, accepting being appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). The two have completely stood with Democrats as the Democrats have tried to smear Republicans over Jan. 6. Any Republican with a remaining brain cell would see that the Committee isn’t about a “bipartisan effort” to get to the truth, but an effort to try to smear Republicans in the run-up to the midterms. You don’t need a partisan committee to investigate the riot, when you have more than ample law enforcement doing that. They have earned that censure and more.

Naturally, it’s causing a meltdown, including from the usual suspects on the left, as well as the Never Trump people.

From NY Post:

“I have no regrets about my decision to uphold my oath of office and defend the Constitution. I will continue to focus my efforts on standing for truth and working to fight the political matrix that’s led us to where we find ourselves today,” Kinzinger tweeted.

“The leaders of the Republican Party have made themselves willing hostages to a man who admits he tried to overturn a presidential election and suggests he would pardon Jan. 6 defendants, some of whom have been charged with seditious conspiracy,” Cheney said, slamming those loyal to Trump.

“I’m a constitutional conservative and I do not recognize those in my party who have abandoned the Constitution to embrace Donald Trump. History will be their judge. I will never stop fighting for our constitutional republic. No matter what.”

How clueless are those Never Trump folks?

Sen. Bill Cassidy (RINO-LA) said, “The RNC is censuring Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger because they are trying to find out what happened on January 6th – HUH?”

While RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel is in favor of censuring, her uncle, Sen. Mitt Romney (RINO-UT) is not.

“Shame falls on a party that would censure persons of conscience, who seek truth in the face of vitriol,” he wrote in a tweet. “Honor attaches to Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for seeking truth even when doing so comes at great personal cost.”

Um, no, Senators, that’s not the problem here. The problem is it’s a completely partisan effort that has nothing to do with the truth.

The left is nuts, and this is a sample.

And it’s the Republicans who are unhinged?

Both Cheney and Kinzinger seem to think they are positioning themselves for higher national office. But Cheney can’t even win a straw poll for her own seat in Wyoming . She lost by a ton to her Trump-supported competitor who is primarying her. The only thing they are positioning themselves for is being the ‘Republican’ contributors on MSNBC or CNN — after they get voted out by the people in November. That will be the ultimate censure.
