It’s pretty hard to imagine that anyone would think anything done at the behest of the rabid partisan House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was “non-partisan.” But Democrats are going all-in to try to sell Pelosi’s Jan. 6 Select Committee as just that.

Pelosi hoped to do it by having Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on the Committee.

Now, she’s trying to buttress up the Republicans’ representation on the Committee by appointing Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).

He repeats the same Democratic lie about the “worst attack on the Capitol since 1814,” proving he’s right in line with their partisanship.

“We have to ignore the antics of those that do not want to find the truth,” Pelosi said. Unfortunately, it’s hard to ignore your antics. She even lies and says “other Republicans have said they wanted to serve.” There aren’t any other Republicans who will go along with it.

If it isn’t partisan why do you have to pick folks like Cheney and Kinzinger who are already biased, who are already “partisan” to agree with your positions? Why don’t you want Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on there? If you really care about the truth, then you welcome all questions. But she isn’t welcoming their questions, which is why House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pulled all the Republican appointees.

Banks revealed what he planned to do as ranking member on the Committee which may explain why Pelosi wanted to cut him. According to CNN, Banks wanted to call the head of the Capitol Police Union who had a lot to say about the failures of security that day. He mentioned that to the Democratic member who would be Chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS). Next thing he knew, he was out.

“There was no indication at that point that we wouldn’t be working together,” Banks told CNN. “But what’s become obviously clear to me is that, because we immediately started asking questions about the vulnerabilities in the Capitol on January 6, they’re not comfortable with that … They were spooked.” [….]

“They were never interested in asking the questions that mattered about January 6,” Banks said. “They wanted this to be a political witch hunt from the very beginning to go after Donald Trump, to go after Republicans in Congress, and to go after 75 million people who voted for Donald Trump.”

He added that when he met with Capitol Police union head Gus Papathanasiou, “there are serious concerns that they raise about the lack of preparation, the lack of training, the lack of equipment, and the Democrats do not want the head of the Capitol Police union to testify on Tuesday,” because it could lead back to Pelosi.

Banks said they don’t want Papathanasiou to testify.

The last thing that Pelosi wants is truth. This is all about trying to whack Republicans in the run-up to 2022.
