The Biden team basically had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into caring at all about investigating the origins of the Wuhan coronavirus. Biden announced a “90 day review” into the question — only after he was getting a lot of blowback for actually stopping a State Department investigation into the origins.

On top of that, at the G-7, he agreed to a international investigation completely run by the WHO, who have already been called into question for their statements about the virus and their closeness to China.

But, that didn’t stop Biden’s National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, from spinning his head off on Fox today, over what they would do if China refused to cooperate and provide information.

Now, if you want to hear a bunch of horse hockey, this was it from Sullivan. He claimed that China would face “isolation in the international community” if they didn’t comply.

“What Joe Biden did in Europe this week was rally the democratic world to speak with a common voice on this issue for the first time since Covid broke out. President Trump wasn’t able to do it. President Biden was. He got the G-7 to endorse a statement saying in unison that China must allow an investigation to proceed within its territory,” Sullivan said.

“It is that diplomatic spadework – rallying the nations of the world, imposing political and diplomatic pressure on China, that is a core part of the effort we are undertaking to ultimately face China with a stark choice: Either they will allow, in a responsible way, investigators in to do the real work of figuring out where this came from, or they will face isolation in the international community,” he continued.

First, Biden got an empty statement saying we’ll put WHO in charge, despite their past history with China. Then there was absolutely no condemnation of the lies that we already know China has told, nor any agreement to put any pressure at all on China. So basicall,y China can ignore this ‘statement,’ if they so choose.

For the past year, as President Donald Trump was calling out China, Democrats including Biden were busy accusing him of xenophobia and attacking him for it. Had they actually backed an investigation into the origins, we might be somewhere now. But, they didn’t. Trump had independent investigations from the State Department and the intelligence community going on, until Biden shut down the one that getting places.

Sullivan claims China will face “isolation” if they don’t cooperate with the investigation. Is that it? That’s the biggest threat that Biden can come up with, given what we already know about the lies from China? How many ways can we say ‘weakness’ with that?

Plus, I don’t even believe that, particularly given China’s influence now in the media and the world economy. And nothing about isolation or any actual punishment was in the very bare statement the G-7 came out with, which was just about WHO being behind the investigation. Not to mention that China already hasn’t been cooperating, since the beginning. That’s how we got here.

So, Biden is basically telling us we’re not going to be holding them to account for anything.
