Xavier Becerra Twists in the Wind When He's Asked Why Biden's Budget Uses 'Birthing People'

Joe Biden now even has “woke” language being slipped into his budget.

As we previously reported, when talking about funding for programs, Joe Biden’s budget removed “mothers” and replaced the term with “birthing people.”

Biden’s Director of Office of Management and Budget Shalanda Young was then questioned on why the language had been changed by House Budget Committee Ranking Member, Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO).

“There are certain people who do not have gender identities that apply to female or male and so we think our language needs to be more inclusive in how we deal with complex issues,” Young replied.

Now Rep. James Lankford (R-OK) asked HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra if he could explain this. What was funny about it was you could tell that Becerra was doing his best to respond but that he really wasn’t on board with it and didn’t understand it any better than anyone else did. He seemed to be searching for an answer as Rep. Lankford pressed him, asking if this was about offending people, doesn’t he wonder if calling mothers “birthing people” isn’t offensive to mothers?

Becerra ultimately settles on, “We’re trying to be precise in the language that’s used.” I have to hand it to him he did his best. But this is the idiocy that the Biden team is forcing their officials to push.

Why are you eliminating the term mother that has been used for thousands of years? You’re literally making it less precise when you use terms that are not accepted and less scientifically accurate when you pretend people other than mothers can get pregnant. That’s the way “the science” works.

But as Lankford points out, if the point is not to be offensive to someone, this kind of language is disrespectful and dehumanizing to women, to simply call mothers “birthing people,” as though all this was simply a physical function. It’s like another “woke” term being propagated, calling women “menstruators.” These terms are reducing women and mothers to “functions.” Plus, who are you including when you use these terms while disrespecting mothers and women? You are not somehow being more inclusive of trans people or whoever this is supposed to be geared toward. People who are biologically male still cannot give birth, you don’t make them able to give birth by changing the language. It’s an exclusively female function.

My colleague Kira Davis did a great piece on how mothers deserve the respect that they have earned, with all the things that go into being a woman and a mother.

But Democrats don’t seem to care about what the millions of mothers and women they are disrespecting might think of all this.
