Andrew Pollack, who lost his daughter Meadow when she was killed during the shooting at the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, had some important news to relate today.
Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie was arrested this morning.
His failed leadership lead to the murder of my daughter Meadow and 16 other innocent lives.
I will never stop fighting until they get the justice they deserve. #FixIt

Meadow’s brother, Hunter, also weighed in.
Those who allowed Meadow to be murdered will be held accountable. All of their failures will be brought to light. In light of his arrest on perjury charges, now is the time for Robert Runcie to step down or be removed. The teachers and students in Broward country deserve better. https://t.co/Ii4AlBFgC4

It was most definitely an unusual charge on which to be arrested for the Superintendent of Schools.
According to Local 10, Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie was arrested Wednesday morning on a charge of perjury in an official proceeding. The school board attorney, Barbara Myrick, was also arrested.
According to the indictment, the grand jury was looking into the following questions:
Whether refusal or failure to follow the mandates of school-related safety laws, such as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, results in unnecessary and avoidable risk to students across the state;
Whether public entities committed and continue to commit fraud and deceit by accepting state funds conditioned on implementation of certain safety measures while knowingly failing to act
Whether school officials committed and continue to commit fraud and deceit by mismanaging, failing to use, and diverting funds from multimillion dollar bonds specifically solicited for school safety initiatives; and
Whether school officials violated and continue to violate systematically underreporting incidents of criminal activity to the Department of Education.
What exactly it is they believe Runcie lied about isn’t clear.
They speak about Marjory Stoneman Douglas, school related safety and the underreporting of criminal activity. There have been previous allegations of the failure to report incidents related to the shooter, Nikolas Cruz. So the indictment description makes one think it could be related.
That’s what Pollack is referring to, as families were furious over the failure to act on years’ worth of warning signs about Cruz.
This could be a huge thing if they are actually finally moving on any of those allegations, but it’s obviously not clear yet.
