The Biden team should be embarrassed over Joe Biden’s prime time address. Americans blasted Joe Biden for falsely taking credit for everything President Donald Trump had done to get the vaccines and get distribution going. They also blasted the authoritarian statement Biden made that the government might allow you to congregate with your family in “small groups” on the Fourth of July, if you’re good little children and do what they say until then.
“If we do all this, if we do our part, if we do this together, by July the Fourth, there’s a good chance,” Biden said, “you, your families and friends will be able to get together in your back yard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout and a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day. That doesn’t mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together.”
But are they embarrassed? Not in the slightest. They don’t get it at all. In fact, his chief of staff even doubled down on the idea in a tweet today.

How insane is that? They really think that they can ‘give you’ that permission, that we’re all little children to be dictated to by the government. That we’re not already getting together with our friends and families. But remember: this is only if you do what Crazy Uncle Joe tells you to do. Because if you don’t, he might impose more restrictions back on you. He actually said that. So say thank you, Supreme Leader, that he might deign to ‘let’ us be with our families on July 4th.
By the way, if everyone is getting the shot by May 1, why do we have to wait until July 4th until we are only ‘allowed’ to congregate in ‘small groups’? Someone want to check Biden on that statement? If everyone is vaccinated, what, can’t you even gather in large groups, which Biden of course says is a ‘no no’? He’s basically saying — even after vaccination of everyone — the government is going to be telling you what to do. Boy, that’s such an incentive, isn’t it? And why would that be, if everyone is vaccinated?
FYI to Biden: People are already getting together with their families as best they can, as they have been for months, and they will be doing so again, no matter what you say. What’s actually troubling about all this is the people who think they have to wait for the government to tell them to do so (as our Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar argued in this piece.)
But most Americans are not in that category, and many gave Biden a little fact check, not just on reality but the meaning of the holiday, which he seems to have forgotten.
On the 4th of July, we celebrate America and our many freedoms. One of those freedoms is that YOU get to decide if you want to have family and friends over in your own backyard, NOT the government. https://t.co/xl1ovY9sef

Biden says by the Fourth of July, we might be able to gather in small groups again, and "that will make this Independence Day something truly special." Buddy, Independence Day is special because in 1776 we got fed up with government telling us how to live our lives.

Anyone else see the gross irony of the American government telling us if we act right they might allow us freedom on our own Independence Day?

If you’re waiting for permission from the chief executive to celebrate Independence Day with your family, you clearly don’t grasp the concept of Independence.

Last night Joe Biden told us if we’re all good little sheep maybe we will be allowed to gather in our backyards for the Fourth of July… who wants to tell him we don’t need his permission?
