Prepare to be less safe. You knew it was coming with Joe Biden and you were right.
As we previously wrote, Biden was trying to stop deportations for 100 days except for national security threats. That is already causing a massive influx at the border that President Donald Trump had greatly cured with his immigration effort. But a judge slapped down Biden’s effort, handing him his first official court loss.
Additionally, according to Homeland Security, there’s a policy change coming that indicates ICE agents would cease to pursue deportations against those convicted of virtually all offenses that were not for national security threats or serious aggravated felonies. So deportations would cease for drugs, DUIs, drunk driving, low-level assaulters, fraudsters and thieves, and a host of other charges, according to a memo obtained by the Washington Post and a report from the Texas Tribune. Moreover, ICE agents said it would weaken ICE’s discretion and their ability to arrest wanted illegal aliens at correctional facilities.
Jen Psaki basically confirmed that when asked by Peter Doocy during the briefing today, although she tried to spin it as “prioritizing national security threats.” As we previously reported, she also got busted by Doocy over where the folks who lost their jobs were going to go to get new jobs.
Doocy 🔥: There's some new reporting that ICE is going to get some new guidance to no longer focus on deporting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of DUI, simple assault, solicitation, drug-based crimes among other things…[H]ow that is in the interest of public safety? pic.twitter.com/kybf9wE3rt

She never did end up giving him an answer to his question of how these new guidelines are in the interest of public safety instead of in the interest of illegal aliens.
One unnamed official told the WaPo that, “They’ve abolished ICE without abolishing ICE.”
Members of Congress including at least one Democrat are not happy with Biden’s actions.
It's the Biden administration policy to allow illegal aliens to stay in America even after they:
-Deal fentanyl and heroin
-Commit fraud
-Commit assault
-Drive drunk
-Launder moneyhttps://t.co/Vr0RhYAJQV— Tom Cotton (@TomCottonAR) February 8, 2021
🚨 Under Biden's new immigration rule ICE won't pursue deportation for:
– Assaulters
– Drunk drivers
– Fraudsters
– ThievesAn ICE official said Biden "abolished ICE without abolishing ICE."

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) expressed opposition to the policy, saying he supported ICE and this was not the right policy.
Former Acting ICE Director Ron Vitiello, who held positions in both the Obama and the Trump administration and rose through the professional ranks of the Border Patrol, decried Biden’s moves.

There will be virtually no enforcement of immigration law under Biden. Most criminal offenses and fraud will be ignored. It goes way beyond an exercise of prosecutorial discretion. It is blanket nonenforcement. I predict lawsuits from Texas. @KenPaxtonTX https://t.co/FEtLt6HMba

This is a completely misleading response. Department of Homeland Security is a branch of the EXECUTIVE government, meaning they take their directives from the President. Guidance on prioritization like this comes directly from the leader of the executive branch… the president.
