Newly elected Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) gave a speech about the Pledge of Allegiance supporting the call of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to have a unifying moment thereby. “Let’s put aside the partisanship,” he asked. He said let’s show our kids that we can “agree to disagree” but we “love our country enough to at least stand and represent our flag.” “One simple action, as leaders,” he asked.

So how did Democrats respond to that simple but eloquent call for unity? Didn’t Joe Biden call for unity?

What Owens got for his heartfelt effort at unity was a bellicose bunch of hypocritical and vitriolic bull durham from Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

First, fact check on some of the things Jeffries said.

It’s not clear that Sicknick died from an injury received during the Capitol action, as we reported earlier. The “two officers who are no longer with us” died from suicide, something Jeffries seems to deliberately fail to say, no evidence that there was a relation to the Capitol action.

Owens wasn’t “lecturing” Dems about patriotism, as Jeffries claimed, but calling for a unifying moment that Jeffries then basically spat on showing what Democrats really think about “unity.”

Owens didn’t vote to object to overturn the election as Jeffries claimed, Owens objected to the electoral count of Pennsylvania, which objection would not have changed the results. Owens acted within his constitutional responsibility in doing so.

Then Jeffries just flat out lied and said without evidence that Owens “supported an insurrection.”

Jeffries added, “The notion of you coming here lecturing us on your first day before this committee [by saying], ‘It’s not about words, it’s about actions.’ You know what, explain your actions on Jan. [6th] when you supported an insurrection.”

He added that it was unpatriotic to provide aid and comfort to a “violent insurrection incited by the former president of the United States of America.”

Let’s talk about how Democrats have dealt with the violent “insurrection” that the BLM/Antifa riots have perpetrated against local and federal governments. That’s resulted in many deaths, hundreds being injured including many police officers and billions in damage to property, with lost jobs and businesses that took a lifetime to build being destroyed. Democrats in particular House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) attacked President Donald Trump for trying to send help to cities, even falsely accused federal agents of being “stormtroopers” and kidnapping people off the streets, for the ‘crime’ of defending the federal courthouse in Portland from attack. Kamala Harris donated to a fund that was helping bail out people arrested during the rioting in Minneapolis. 13 Biden staffers joined her. They and a bunch of celebrities encouraged others to donate to the fund.

Democrats have objected to the electoral count the last three times Republican presidents won, including Nancy Pelosi in 2005, saying how that right was “fundamental to our democracy.”

Here are more Democrats objecting in 2016 against President Donald Trump in 2016 on the basis of the Russia collusion conspiracy.

Remember there was absolutely no evidence that the Russians actually changed even one vote and the collusion theory was debunked. But that didn’t stop the Democrats trying to undermine the duly-elected president then and for the next four years. They didn’t seem to care at all about how much damage they were doing to the country and how much division they were causing with their lies about President Donald Trump. Perhaps Rep. Jeffries needs to be reacquainted with all this history after his hypocritical attack on Rep. Owens?

But Owens then put paid to Jeffries reminding him of what Democrats did in 2016 in the electoral count and asked if he called that “insurrection?” Jeffries denied that it was, thus sinking Jeffries’ salacious and false claim against Owens.

Owens finished off Jeffries, noting that with the talk about “insurrection” and proper process, where was the proper process of the Democrats when they did a snap impeachment of President Donald Trump without any witnesses or any evidence presented?

Owens clearly showed he had the mettle to deal with such disingenuous attacks. But this is where Democrats are at, trying to demonize Republicans to more firmly hold unto power. Some unity.
