The fight for the Senate seats from Georgia is a knock-down-drag-out fight, with control of the U.S. Senate as the ultimate goal.

One of the problems for the Democrats is the negative comments and actions in the background of the Democrats’ candidate, Rev. Raphael Warnock. We’ve reported on some of those troubling things here and here.

One such comment that excited negative attention was Warnock saying during a sermon that “You cannot serve the military and God,” as we reported earlier. It’s a comment that’s not likely to go over well in Georgia which has a lot of military installations including military who like to think they serve both God and their country.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) criticized Warnock for that comment.

But then Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) went after Rubio for his tweet and she probably shouldn’t have. Trying to quote scripture to Rubio was a big fail for her.

Um, “Mathews?” What book is that?

She seems be arguing that Warnock is quoting scripture.

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and dmoney.”

The point here is that as a Muslim I know that @ReverendWarnock is quoting scripture in his sermon here, so I am sure Rubio does too, but he is willing to lie and make mockery of himself.

But of course that isn’t scripture, nowhere does it say “You cannot serve God and the military.” Nor does it say “You cannot serve God and dmoney.” What the heck is “dmoney?” The exact quote is “mammon” meaning riches or wealth. Not the military.

So what are the GOP lying about, Rep. Omar? They’re quoting something wrong and disgusting that Warnock said. That’s not lying, that’s correctly calling him out.

What she doesn’t like is she knows it’s an attack that’s going to stick. It also tells us something about Warnock that Omar is willing to go to bat for him. That’s not helpful for him in Georgia which isn’t looking to move to the radical left or turn socialist.

Rubio explained it to both Omar and another Democrat, Rep. Brian Schatz (D-HI), who doesn’t seem to get it or wants to cover for Warnock.

Even Kyle Griffin, the MSNBC producer always pushing the Democratic talking points of the day, weighed in to try to defend Warnock.

The senator is using hyperbolic language to sensationalize a standard Christian take on the concept of serving two masters. But he sections out the military portion of Warnock’s sermon and only the military portion because he wants to drum up a fake controversy.
