Biden and Harris Deliver Statements on Breonna Taylor Decision, but They're Full of Problems

You would think that if you’re running for President and Vice President, if you’re going to deliver a statement regarding the case of Breonna Taylor, you would have someone fact check it to make sure that what you was saying was correct.

Now, granted that there was a lot of erroneous information and false narratives being tossed out there, mostly by BLM.

But shouldn’t people running for such high office at least make sure they’re listening to what the actual evidence is in the case?

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron went into great detail as to what the six month investigation had found. But apparently, neither Kamala Harris nor Joe Biden has listened to it.

“Tonight, I’m thinking of Breonna Taylor’s family who is still grieving the loss of a daughter and sister. We must never stop speaking Breonna’s name as we work to reform our justice system, including overhauling no-knock warrants.”

But it wasn’t actually a “no-knock” situation, as Cameron explained. The police actually knocked and announced they were police, according to them. A civilian witness who lived nearby heard the police knocking and announcing they were police. The police also told the grand jury that they had knocked several times and announced they were police.

Joe Biden’s statement was actually worse in some ways.

Breonna Taylor was a beloved daughter, member of her community, and an essential worker who served as an E.M.T. as COVID-19 began to spread. But she died, shot in her own home by the police. In the wake of her tragic death, we mourn with her mother, family, and community and ask ourselves whether justice could be equally applied in America.

I know for so many people today’s decision does not answer that call. A federal investigation remains ongoing, but we do not need to wait for the final judgment of that investigation to do more to deliver justice for Breonna. We know what is necessary. We need to start by addressing the use of excessive force, banning chokeholds, and overhauling no-knock warrants. I know people are frustrated and they have a right to peacefully protest, but violence is never acceptable. And we can express pain, grief, anger, and disappointment at the way things are, but remain focused on rebuilding trust in our communities and delivering change that can be.

We must continue to speak Breonna Taylor’s name, support her family still in grieving, and never give up on ensuring the full promise of America for every American.

It also mentioned “no-knock warrants.” But it had a big mistake in there, claiming that Breonna Taylor was an E.M.T who served as “COVID 19 began to spread.” Now, I get that Biden wants to say “COVID, COVID, COVID” thinking that if he does, that’s his best attack on Trump. But the reality is that Breonna Taylor hadn’t been an E.M.T for years, she was only an E.MT. for several months in 2016 and the employment ended in November 2016. It’s one of the many myths spread about the case. She was, however, an emergency room technician. Not the same thing.

But beyond those particular details that they got wrong, what Biden did was stoke the fire, even as he claimed to be against “violence.” He says we “ask ourselves whether justice could be equally applied in America” and suggest that she was getting unequal treatment because of race, casting doubt on the decision of the grand jury. The ‘say her name’ is a pander to the BLM chant to “say her name.”

They showed once again the weight of their statements was not in trying to convey the facts to help people better understand and why the grand jury did what they did, but to undermine that and suggest it was all unfair.

But Biden did concentrate on his priorities, apparently. He made sure that the page on which his statement was made also had a donation button for his campaign. Yikes.

Come on, man!
