When I was in law school, one of the things they taught you early on was a basic principle of cross-examination: never ask a question of a witness that you don’t know the answer to. Because if you do, you’re likely to get a surprise that you may not like.

A woman found that out when the NYPD was trying to clear the street of people during rioting in NYC.

Here’s a little sample of the fun with which they had to deal over the weekend.

So, as they were trying to clear the streets and telling people to move out of the area they were clearing, one woman decided that she didn’t have to move and that she was going to get in the face of one of the cops over it.

Pro tip? Bad move.

He asked her to move.

She yelled at the cop, then got right in his face and it even appears she may have bumped him when she moves forward. “Or f**king what?” she asked.

The answer came quickly and it was priceless.

“She’s going,” calling out to her friends who don’t come to her aid and the screeching was something else. The police immediately reformed around the people to prevent the woman from being de-arrested. “Are you serious?”

Yes, Virginia, they are serious. Ask stupid questions, you’re going to get an answer you don’t like. Talk about entitled. She thinks she’s entitled to get in the face and the way of the cop, that she can just throw a tantrum. In terms of what they could consider charging, if you interfere with an officer in the performance of this duty, such as by physically stepping into his face, not only refusing his request to move but apparently impeding him, you might get “obstruction of governmental administration,” preventing him from doing his lawful duty. If you bump him, that’s more. Now they also have great video evidence. Don’t do that and don’t be this woman.
