Biden Claims that None of His Staffers Confirmed Reade's Story 'In Any Way,' But That Isn't Quite True

Prior to his interview with Mika Brzezinski on Friday morning, Joe Biden released a statement about the allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment by former staffer Tara Reade.

Interestingly, he never even mentions her name, it’s all about him. So much for hearing her.

In it, Biden claims that media interviewed his staffers.

“News organizations that have talked with literally dozens of former staffers have not found one – not one – who corroborated her allegations in any way.”

Brzezinski echoed this statement during their interview.

“The New York Times invested this exhaustively, they didn’t find any of your former staff members were able to corroborate the details of this allegation.”

Except that isn’t quite true, as the New York Times and other media have noted. Biden claims that the allegations were not confirmed in any way. But two interns confirm how she was removed from supervising them, as she claimed happened after the sexual assault.

In 2019, while claiming Biden had “put his hand on my shoulder and run his finger up my neck,” Reade said some of her office duties were cut after she declined to work as a cocktail server at one of his events, noting her suspicion that she was given the assignment because Biden liked leering at her legs. This alleged retaliation also included taking her off intern-supervision duties and relegating her to a windowless office. Two people who served as Biden interns during Reade’s tenure confirmed to the Times that she suddenly stopped overseeing their tasks in April of that year, four months before her official exit. The former congressional interns also told the Times they did not hear about any misconduct alleged by Reade and never witnessed the two interacting.

Biden surrogates like Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) have been falsely pitching the New York Times’ story and other media stories as clearing him.

From Free Beacon:

“[Biden] and his campaign urged that these allegations be fully investigated. They have been,” Coons said Wednesday on MSNBC’s Meet the Press Daily. “The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press have dedicated weeks of reporters’ time to digging in, calling people, contacting people, researching. And they all three have concluded that there was no substance to these allegations.”

In fact, they concluded no such thing.

Indeed, the New York Times called such claims false, saying officially they were not taking a position on the truth or falsity of the allegation.

From Washington Examiner:

“BuzzFeed reported on the existence of talking points being circulated by the Biden campaign that inaccurately suggest a New York Times investigation found that Tara Reade’s allegation ‘did not happen,’” Danielle Rhoades Ha, the paper’s vice president of communications, told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday. “Our investigation made no conclusion either way. As BuzzFeed correctly reported, our story found three former Senate aides whom Reade said she complained to contemporaneously, all of whom either did not remember the incident or said that it did not happen.”

“The story also included former interns who remembered Reade suddenly changing roles and no longer overseeing them, which took place during the same time period that Reade said she was abruptly reassigned,” Rhoades Ha added. “The Times also spoke to a friend who said Reade told her the details of the allegation at the time; another friend and Reade’s brother say she told them of a traumatic sexual incident involving Biden.”

So how about Biden tell his folks not to spread falsehoods? And how about he not go beyond the facts himself?
