The Daily Mail posted a tweet Monday night that attracted a lot of attention for its claim.

It said that President Donald Trump “REFUSES to say if he has been tested for coronavirus and storms out of White House briefing on crisis.”

Wow, what news, right?

Oddly, you would think that the video of such an event would be in the tweet, but it wasn’t.

But perhaps the reason why was because when you looked at what actually happened, that really wasn’t an accurate description of it at all.

In other words, some reporter yelled questions at Trump after he’d already closed his part of the meeting and as he was leaving the room. He didn’t “storm” anywhere; that was the most leisurely “storming” I think I’ve ever seen. He likely didn’t even hear the questions.

So basically the administration conducts an orderly meeting, focused on what’s being done. Then media just flips reality on its head.

CNN’s Jim Acosta used to employ this tactic. Wait until the President was leaving or couldn’t hear him and shout questions, then claim “he refused to answer my questions.”

But the White House told them anyway last night, so they really didn’t have to wait. They included it in their story so that was at odds with the tweet. It’s not clear if they had that in the original story or added it later.

They got ratioed for their tweet, but good.
