It’s pretty safe to say that a lot of Americans have very fond feelings for “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek.
So when he let the world know earlier last spring that he was suffering from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, it was devastating news. He’s given us such enjoyment over the years, it’s hard not to think of him as one of the family.
He recently let everyone know because of his illness and having to start chemotherapy again that he might have to cut back on his work.
On Monday, he was hosting the 2019 Tournament of Champions. And he and the competitors were wearing purple ribbons in honor of teacher Larry Martin, who qualified to be in the tournament, but was not able to be there because he died of pancreatic cancer.
In an incredibly emotional moment, contestant Dhruv Gaur, who was in third place and didn’t have a chance of winning, used his final answer to send a special message to Alex Trebek.

When “What is We love you Alex!” was revealed, Trebek was visibly touched and came close to tears.
“We love you Alex” then trended on social media as everyone posted their great affection for Trebek.
#weloveyoualex is always the correct response!
