President Donald Trump has announced that the hero dog who chased after ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi and was injured in the effort to get him is now going to be coming to the White House.

People fell in love with Conan when the president tweeted his picture for the first time a few days ago.

Now the name has been declassified as well and it sounds like he’s coming home for well-deserved rest and recognition.

According to Gen. Frank McKenzie, who heads U.S. Central Command, Conan was hurt after he was exposed to live electrical wires as he chased Baghdadi in the tunnel under his compound. Conan has served with the Special Forces for four years and has been involved in about 50 missions.

McKenzie praised military working dogs, saying that they were trained since birth and were “critical members of our forces” who “performed a tremendous service.”

After the president tweeted out the meme from the Daily Wire terming the dog an “American hero,” mainstream media lost their minds (what little they had left, anyway). They apparently couldn’t seem to get it was a meme and that no, the president wasn’t awarding a paw-print medal to the dog.

As the Daily Wire notes, both the VOA’s Steve Herman and CNN’s Jim Acosta contacted the White House to confirm that there really hadn’t been a ceremony where the dog got the Medal of Honor, Acosta tweeting he had confirmed, “the dog is not at the WH.”

The New York Times had two reporters tracking down the “doctored image” and even found the original Medal of Honor winner from which the photo was edited. But he didn’t give them what they wanted, telling them he thought the dog was very deserving and wasn’t bothered by it at all.

The WaPo tweeted out this awful post.

They also tried to get comment from the Daily Wire with the same angle apparent in their email and the Daily Wire’s Jeremy Boreing had the best response ever, “You’ve got to be f*cking joking.”

According to the Daily Wire, the WaPo did not quote them as Boreing requested, instead the WaPo reported that Boreing “dismissed” the Post’s questions.
