New: Majority of Californians Want Zero to Do With Newsom Running for President, Much Less Harris

In what should be a clear message to embattled California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris, whose 2024 presidential campaign ranked among the worst presidential campaigns in U.S. history, a new CBS/YouGov poll found that a majority of voters in the no-longer-Golden State want nothing to do with either of them running for president in 2028.

Prediction: Neither Newsom nor Harris will heed the results of any poll that finds they'd be wise to sit out 2028 — and likely refrain from seeking any other office, anytime soon.

While CBS News did its damnedest to couch the bad news as not all that bad, the results suggested otherwise. Let's first look at the numbers for Newsom (read: Gov. Hair Gel).

Among all California voters, 48 percent said Newsom should run, while 52 percent said he shouldn't. As to be expected, a whopping 72 percent of Democrats favored a run by the embattled governor, while 52 percent of Republican respondents opposed a Newsom run.

And as I suggested, the numbers were much worse for Harris, with roughly seven in 10 respondents wanting nothing to do with a Harris redux — no doubt based in large part on her disastrous, ever-cackling, word-salad disaster against President Donald Trump.

Most independents don't think Newsom or Harris should run, but by comparison, they are much more likely to back Newsom. Call it a tallest midget contest.

I mean, shudder the thought, right?

Pretend you're a California Democrat who might very well be forced to choose between a guy who is president of his own self-aggrandizing fan club and a woman who can't string together a cogent sentence, much less speak intelligently on any number of issues that face America.

And remember, when Kamala was asked by The View co-host Sunny Hostin what she'd do differently than former President Joe Biden if she were to win the election, she got that deer-in-headlights look on a vacant face, and replied, "nothing comes to mind."

So here's the thing:

While Newsom and Harris both happen to live in California, the Democrat Party as a whole faces a similar predicament to that faced by California voters, which is the reality that the party's bench couldn't be weaker — vs. that of the Republican Party, come 2028.

I mean, when you see Democrats and their liberal media lapdogs speculating about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), of all people, heading the party's presidential ticket in 2028 — even, perhaps, with race-hustling Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) in the veep slot, you know you have serious issues.

Or at least you should know.

Anyway, Newsom and Harris aside, given that a majority of Democrats appear to remain clueless about why Trump's win was so decisive, I can only imagine AOC, for example, on a 2028 presidential debate stage with, say, Vice President JD Vance. I'm sure it would be pay-per-view quality entertainment — watching JD wipe the floor with the erstwhile bartender.

Meanwhile, the misadventures of Gavin and Kamala continue.

Note: The Schumer Shutdown continues. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown over healthcare for illegals.
