As we've seen with most if not all of President Donald Trump's advisors and cabinet members, it hasn't worked out well at all for smug Democrat lawmakers as they've tried to play "gotcha" during hearings, or attempted to lead member of Team Trump down false paths, always laden with TDS-riddled questions and barbs.
In the latest example, snippy Hawaii Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono tried — for at least the second time — to get Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to say whether or not he would follow an unlawful order from Trump. Any guesses how that turned out?
Here's Hirono:
[Concerning] an order from the president, I'm going to ask you once again — to shoot peaceful protesters in the legs, would you carry out such an order from the president?
Setting aside the probability that Hirono doesn't give a hoot about the "peaceful" protesters, and is not only far more interested in "trapping" Hegseth, but even more so, with dumping on Trump, her staged question was nothing more than performative theater.
Hegseth calmly, yet forcefully, answered:
Senator, as I've said, before, of course I reject the premise of your question, and the characterization that I would be given — or have been given — unlawful orders is an attempt to smear the Commander in Chief and I won't fall for it.
Boom. Hirono tried to interrupt Hegseth as he responded, but he wasn't having any of it.
Secretary Hegseth smacks down Senator Hirono’s INSANE line of questioning:

This wasn't Hegseth's first rodeo with the TDS-riddled senator in which she asked him if he would follow unlawful orders from Trump.
During Hegseth's confirmation hearing in January, Hirono not only questioned the then-nominee for Defense Secretary about unlawful orders from Trump; she also tried to grill him about past reports of drinking on the job, and his thoughts about taking over Greenland — as Trump trolled the Democrats by saying he was considering doing the idea.
Hegseth responded at the time:
Senator, one of the things that President Trump is so good at is never strategically tipping his hand, and so I would never in this public forum give one way or another what orders the president gives to me in any context.
So Hegseth — after having served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and receiving two Bronze Star Medals, the Joint Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, and other awards — did the right thing. Again. As a good soldier would do.

And Sen. Mazie Hirono, who, like so many of her Democrat comrades, remains devoid of ideas, much less proposals, about how to right the Ship of State — which was nearly scuttled by four disastrous years of the Biden-Harris administration — is singularly focused on blocking everything Donald Trump and his team strive to accomplish the post-Biden era.
Pete Hegseth again rose above the petty partisanship, and again gave Ms. Hirono what for.
Editor's Note: Donald Trump and his team have been fighting against the left’s extreme agenda.
