It didn’t have to be this way. Not in the United States of America. Yet it not only is; it also exposes ugly and, shameless truths about the state of today’s radicalized left.
Perhaps even worse, Congressional Democrats, the quasi-official Democrat media, and willfully-ignorant social media keyboard jockeys not only refuse to condemn the ugly truth; many of them vociferously defend it.
This is not the America in which I grew up, and it’s damn sure not the America I want my children and grandchildren to experience in the future. The Democrat Party’s steady move to the left over the years was at first insidious; gradual, often subtle, but always with harmful effects — many if not most those harmful effects intended.
But now? If we only look back as far as the 2020 George Floyd riots (AKA: “mostly peaceful protests”), in which we saw unbridled hatred and violence, burning, looting, and the deaths of at least 25 Americans, we also saw the lengths to which the left is willing to go — which brings us back to Elon Musk.
Never mind that Musk and his companies have developed Tesla, SpaceX, STARLINK (high-speed internet around the world) PayPal, OpenAI, Twitter, and X (formerly Twitter), he is now “uniquely evil” for contributing to Republican politicians, and his seemingly unwavering support of the President Donald Trump and his administration.

Incidentally, also never mind that billionaires like George Soros and Meta Corp. (formerly Facebook Corp.) CEO Mark Zuckerberg have donated heavily to Democrat politicians and avidly supported — if not directly aided — left-wing policies.
Political commentator Jonathan Turley weighed in on the left's campaign to destroy Musk:
This scorched Earth campaign [against Musk] was evident this week in New York, where democratic legislators are again moving to weaponize state laws for political purposes — just like they did with Trump.
New York state Sen. Pat Fahy (D-Albany) is pledging to bar Musk from direct sales in the state. Fahy has been a longtime advocate of electric vehicles. The move will make it more difficult not just for Musk but other EV dealers to survive, but climate change policies be damned. Fahy and her colleagues want to get at Musk in any way they ca
The bottom line is, Tesla has lost their right to promote these when they’re part of an administration that wants to go backwards. Elon Musk was handed a privilege here. No matter what we do, we’ve got to take this from Elon Musk. He’s part of an effort to go backwards.
"Take what"? And "backwards" to what?
The question is rhetorical; if the radical left (unopposed by the Democrat Party) is allowed to get its way, Musk and his empire must be utterly destroyed. Hyperbolic? Not a bit.
Fahy isn't unique, noted Turley:
*The left decries political violence like January 6th but is largely silent as Teslas are set on fire and Cybertrucks are covered with graffiti. It promote boycotts and rallies with a wink at the vandals. As the violence increases around the country, the left has held protests featuring signs like “Burn a Tesla, Save Democracy.”
* Democrats have made the defense of immigration a core issue and have objected even to the use of the term “illegal” or “unlawful” to refer to those crossing the Southern border. Yet, they have attacked Musk due to his status as a naturalized citizen. He is denounced as a “foreigner” “meddling” in our government. Some questioned Musk’s loyalty because he is a naturalized American.
* Those who insist that they believe in free speech are supporting censorship and opposing Musk for restoring free speech protections on X.
* In California, labor advocates oppose expanded operations from SpaceX that would benefit workers in the state. California Coastal Commissioner Gretchen Newsom tried to block increased SpaceX launches despite their benefit for both the California economy and national security. Because he “aggressively injected himself into the presidential race,” it does not mater that this would cost money and labor opportunities. Retaliation for “hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods” was more important.
Unbridled hatred indeed.
Having grown up in the turbulent late-60s and 70s, the mere thought of today's the truly radicalized left would have been unthinkable — and be supported by the Democrat Party, no less — yet here we are.
It's safe to say that today's left, including the Democrat Party, has lost its capacity for shame. Their bitter hatred continues to eat them alive, yet they appear to relish their own self-destruction. As Turley put it, "it consumes every part of a person."
"They are disgusted only by the refusal of others to yield to their demands, not the use of any means to achieve political ends," Turley opined.
The question is how far the left's blind hatred will take them — or ultimately destroy them.
