Poor Howard Dean. 

The former Democrat National Committee chairman and embarrassingly-failed 2004 Democrat presidential candidate seems to step on a rake or ten every time he opens his mouth in public.

In the latest example, Dean — also a former governor of Vermont, which explains a lot — idiotically trashed the "fascist" attack on capitalism, warning that it "could break in the United States."  

Again, poor Howard.

During a Thursday appearance on MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Dean incredibly began by first making sense.

Bernie Sanders is partly right that we need to focus on the working people of this country. We talk a good game, but it’s all about donors and, you know, ‘my good man’ and all this crap that goes on in Washington all the time. We need to be knocking on every door in the country running people for the state legislature, city council, school boards. And we’re not doing that until we do that. We’re not going to win elections.

Exactly. The Democrat Party has, for at least six decades, lied to its followers, all while shilling for powerful labor unions and doing the bidding of rich donors. Moreover, the party masterfully convinced (lied to) its rank-and-file voters — in particular, Black America — that while Democrats weren't delivering on all (if any) of their promises, to think about how horrible things would be if they didn't have the Democrat Party to protect them from the evil Republicans. 

Needless to say, long-time Democrat voters — including Black and Hispanic voters — have increasingly abandoned the party in favor of Republican candidates, most notably, President Donald Trump and down-ballot Republicans in the 2024 general election. 

Dean then predictably went off the rails, telling host Ari Melber (emphasis, gleefully mine):

We’re at a time, Ari, where capitalism could break in the United States. You know, fascism is not good for capitalism. It really isn’t. Not in the long term. And yes, there’s too much bureaucracy. And yes, we need to do something about that. 

You don’t break the law to do that. You don’t give your friends $2 billion contracts to do that. You get down, you go and do, and you do the work and do what needs to be fixed. You do it fairly and treat working people fairly. I think the people who work for this government are not being treated fairly.

Ahh, one of the Democrats's favorite buzzwords — fascism — again rears its ugly head. 

Rather than not only refresh Howard and my Democrat friends on the definition of fascism ("a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy") but also that President Donald Trump has neither said nor proposed any initiatives even close to fascistic, I'd rather continue to focus on the ignorance of Dean's intentional scaremongering.

Like his fellow Vermonter Bernie Sanders — a self-declared "democratic socialist" — Dean seems to believe that the alternative to capitalism is, whether spoken aloud or suggested, socialism. 

Humorously, today's Democrats appear to believe that socialism "their way" could be the panacea that solves virtually all of America's problems. The notion reminds me of an old political cartoon:

Yep, America, everyone else did it the wrong way, yet today's Democrat Party continues to tell — directly or indirectly — that their way will work. That is both naive and insane. Besides, socialism "done the right way" might very well ward off "fascists" like Donald Trump.
