Among country music star Waylon Jennings's many hits, "I've Always Been Crazy" (But It's Kept Me From Going Insane) was among my favorites. While being crazy might have kept Waylon from going insane, Democrat strategist James "Ragin' Cajun'" Carville was to enjoy no such fortune.
Perfect case in point:
Carville said during the Politics War Room podcast on Thursday that the Republican Party backs Israel because conservatives are racist and Jews are “whiter” than Palestinians, therefore much more deserving of support. No, really.
It’s really about the misogyny and the racism that drives the thing, and we got to recognize that. It’s not about any policy prescription. And the reason I suspect that most of these people describe themselves as pro-Israel is because the Jews are whiter than the Palestinians, which I think drives a lot of what they are.
Carville then rolled into some illogical nonsense about anti-Israel protesters targeting Democrats instead of Republicans.
My favorite comment to come out of this movement or these protests … I’m troubled by some of this stuff … I’m not remotely Palestinian. But they asked them, ‘Trump is even more radical or anti-Palestine than whatever you think that President Biden or Vice President Harris is, why don’t you protest him?’
They said, ‘Because we wouldn’t have any influence with them.’ So, the reason that they say, ‘We targeting Democrats ’cause, well, we think they would be more open-minded about this, but we’re not going to do anything to the Republicans because we’re not gonna have any influence.
Then, classic Carville:
Well, that’s just some dumbass political s**t, all right? So, are you going to hurt the person that actually has the best chance of resolving this issue in a satisfactory way because you can’t influence the other person? I don’t get the logic. I don’t get the logic at all. I just don’t.
It is any wonder? I mean, James is James — and he's becoming even more James the older he gets. I don't know if dude's screws are getting looser or tighter.
Carville's comments occur at the 1:13:21 mark, below:
Oh— I almost forgot. James also lost his mind over Donald Trump's rhetoric, which is hardly new.
Anyone who's paid a modicum of attention to Donald over the last more than eight years is more than aware of his — shall we say "unique"? — speaking style.
What really gets to me, you hear this all the time, you know, ‘Trump doesn’t understand … if he just moderated … and wouldn’t say this crazy stuff,’ you don’t understand. That’s his appeal. Without the racism and the misogyny, he has nothing!
And he knows that. And he’s not going to listen to the campaign advisors that tell him to act sane or act normal or talk about pivoting to the middle, to talk about talking about the issues, because that’s not what the Republican Party is.
Memo to James Carville:
The facts: The majority of Israelis are from non-European origins. Israeli Jews are often physically indistinguishable from Israeli Arabs or Palestinian Arabs, with Middle Eastern features.
Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, was not established for just one type of Jew but for all Jews, from every part of the world — the Middle East, North Africa, Ethiopia, Asia and, yes, Europe.
Without a doubt, the creation of Israel provided a haven for Jews who survived the Holocaust and extreme oppression in Europe. However, we cannot acknowledge that history at the expense of [other] Jews ... regardless of skin color, [who] shared the desire for a Jewish state long before the establishment of Israel.
Have a good day, James. And do keep running your idiotic mouth, won't you?
