Congressman Blasts Biden's 'Pattern of Abandonment,' Helps Rescue Multiple Americans From Haiti

Joe Biden's precipitous withdrawal of all remaining U.S. forces from Afghanistan in August 2021, leaving untold numbers of American civilians behind Taliban lines, will go down in history as one of the miserably failed president's most tragic mistakes — along with his intentional illegal alien crisis, of course.

Now, three years later, Biden's abandonment of Haiti is reminiscent of Afghanistan, even if on a somewhat smaller scale. Let's be clear: Leaving Afghanistan wasn't the problem. The tragedy was how Biden left it.

Florida Republican Congressman Cory Mills blasted Biden and his administration in an X (formerly Twitter) post, writing:

It’s with great pride I announce that our team successfully conducted another rescue of 13 Americans out of PAP Haiti. Our team has now successfully rescued and evacuated more Americans than Biden and his entire administration.

Americans deserve support from their government. Not the pattern of abandonment this administration has shown.

Kudos to the congressman, and shame on Joe Biden — for the umpteenth time.

State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said Monday that nearly 1,000 Americans have filled out a "crisis intake form" seeking assistance in Haiti.

It is not hyperbole to say that this is one of the most dire humanitarian situations in the world. Gang violence continues to make the security situation in Haiti untenable, and it is a region that demands our attention.

It's also a region on America's doorstep.

Ten Americans previously evacuated by Mills from Haiti had worked at the Have Faith Orphanage in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. Mills told Fox Digital at the time:

This mission reiterates a disturbing reality under President Biden’s leadership: American lives are continually jeopardized. I have led missions to rescue Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them.

While it's completely justified to condemn Biden for once again abandoning Americans in foreign countries, I wouldn't be surprised if the cognitively declining 81-year-old president hasn't even been told about the developing crisis — and if he has, I'd bet that he probably doesn't even remember.

Mills continued, after citing his rescue missions in Afghanistan following the U.S. military withdrawal in 2021 and the rescue of Americans from Israel in late 2023:

There’s a clear pattern of abandonment. Yet again, this group was left behind by Biden and his State Department after requesting their help in-country.

So How Did Biden Usher in Haiti's Demise?

Even PBS recently called out Biden for being largely responsible for the latest ungovernable chaos in Haiti.

When Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry filled the void left by the assassination of the country’s president in 2021, he did so over the protest of wide segments of the population but with the full-throated support of the Biden administration.

Now, almost three years later, Henry’s grip on power is hanging by a thread, and Washington is confronted by even worse choices as it scrambles to prevent the country’s descent into anarchy.

The embattled prime minister left Haiti 10 days ago and has since crisscrossed the world — from South America to Africa to New York and now Puerto Rico — all while staying silent as he tries to negotiate a return home that seems increasingly unlikely.

According to PBS, James Foley, a retired career diplomat and former U.S. ambassador to Haiti, said in an interview about the Biden administration's support for Henry:

They rode this horse to their doom. It’s the fruit of the choices we made.

Nichols is expected to discuss Haiti when he delivers a Thursday speech on U.S. policy in Latin America hosted by the Council of the Americas in Washington.

The Bottom Line

While Haiti has for decades been a volatile country, there's no question that Joe Biden's fingerprints are all over yet another problem made worse by his actions or lack of action.

As Barack Obama reportedly said in 2020, while discussing his skepticism about a Biden run for the White House:

Don't underestimate Joe's ability to f**k things up.

Far be it from me to believe anything Obama says, but that observation couldn't have been more on the money.
