Vice President Kamala Harris might not be a fool, but then again, when you're totally unaware that your target audience isn't buying a single word of what you're trying to sell them, what do you call that?
Even worse, if you're talking to Hispanic Americans about how awesome their lives are as a result of Joe Biden's policies, and you "forget" to talk about the economy and the wide-open southern border, that's even worse.
Such was the case when Harris traveled to Houston last Monday to brag about the Biden-Harris administration's record and its impact on Latinos.
Let's just say Texas Latinos weren't impressed.
After beginning her speech with what amounted to a platitudinous nothingburger, Harris acknowledged that Joe Biden's reelection battle is going to be "tough" before launching into a list of the administration's "accomplishments."
[T]he punditry, you know, on media, will — they’ll — they’ll often talk about, “Oh, you know, there’s — this is going to be a tough race. This is going to be a tough election.” Well, of course, it is. We’re talking about [the] president of the United States in a reelection.
Of course, it’s going to be tough, but we’ve got a lot of good material. We’ve got a lot of good material.
And I’ll just rattle off a few things.
We await with bated breath. Ms. Vice President.
Harris went on to brag about the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, "getting every American family access to an affordable high-speed Internet," and "getting rid of every lead pipe in America." She spoke in broad-based, nebulous terms, nary offering an example to back her premise of what a swell job the Biden-Harris administration is doing for hardworking Americans.
As I mentioned at the top, clueless Kamala said zero about the devasting impact of inflation on working-class Americans and zero about the Biden Border Crisis.
Former Texas Republican Rep. Mayra Flores was having none of it.
Kamala Harris coming to Houston while continuing to ignore the crisis at our southern border is a slap in the face to every Texan, every American, and every Hispanic American in this country.
Precisely.
Harris brags about the zillions of jobs the Biden administration has created — sorry, the government doesn't create jobs — while failing to mention the impact of millions of illegal aliens streaming into the country or already here, most of them presumably looking for jobs, and the subsequent, direct impact the crisis has on the blue-collar job market.
Enough is enough, believe a growing number of Hispanic Americans.
The truth is Biden is hemorrhaging Latino support. Even Newsweek recently acknowledged it, saying dissatisfaction with the administration's policies within the Latino community should be "setting off alarms" for the embattled president.
Democrat consultant Ruy Teixeira wrote:
Polls consistently find that Hispanic voters prefer Republicans to Democrats on inflation and handling the economy. Nearly all — 86 percent — Hispanics say economic conditions are only fair or poor, and about three-quarters say the same thing about their personal financial situation. By 2 to 1, they say President Biden’s policies are hurting, not helping, them and their families.
Said Mayra Flores:
Hispanic Americans are flocking toward the Republican Party because we have the solutions to solve the issues at the border, the gas pump, the grocery store, and everywhere in between.
Yet clueless Kamala and her equally out-of-touch boss, Joe, continue to flit around the country, lying to everyday Americans about what a wonderful job Team Biden is doing for them — even if they fail to see it.
Then there's the Biden Border Crisis. A recent poll by the Libre Institute found that 65 percent of 1,000 Latinos surveyed believe more needs to be done to stop the never-ending flood of illegal aliens into the country, with 63 percent believing increased border security is necessary, as well.
Again, Harris said zero about the border during her snake oil pitch to Hispanics in Texas.
Kristin Tate of the Messenger reported on an ugly little secret that Joe Biden and the Democrats don't want you to know.
There has been large-scale resistance not from the cities’ white hipsters, but instead from those in black and Latino neighborhoods. Hundreds of residents of Chicago’s racially diverse Hyde Park neighborhood protested against a resettlement plan at a public meeting.
And protesters marched in New York City with signs in English and Spanish calling the wave of migrants an ‘invasion.’”
[And] nearly three times as many black Democrats describe illegal immigration as a "threat" to the country than their white Democrat counterparts.
Interesting, isn't it?
Joe Biden and the Democrats, backed by their liberal media sock puppets, want you to believe that "racist white people" are primarily the ones making a fuss about illegal aliens pouring into this country.
The Bottom Line
The Biden-Harris administration has been living on lies for nearly three years. They're going to continue to do that. Why? Because they continue to believe that low-information, rank-and-file Democrats are either ignorant of the facts or don't give a damn, one way or another.
Regardless, more and more Democrat voters — most importantly, Hispanic and Black Americans — are increasingly fed up with Democrats. The question is whether enough of them do so to have a sizeable enough impact in 2024.
