When you see or hear "United Nations Climate Conference," what's the first thing that comes to mind?
Climate change? Global warming? Joe Biden? John Kerry? Al Gore? The existential threat to mankind? Carbon footprints? Massive wealth redistribution? All of the above? You're far from alone if any or all of these thoughts instantaneously pop into your head. After all, God knows how hard the left pushes the stuff.
Welp, here we go again.
The upcoming UN Climate Conference is projected to have a larger so-called "carbon footprint" than any of the 27 previous UN climate change confabs.
Why how can that be, you ask? I'll take a stab at the answer: Leftism is all about being seen and heard at the places you're supposed to be seen and heard. From the protest marches of the late '60s to the Black Lives Matter "peaceful protests" to the obscenity of antisemitic demonstrations in the aftermath of the October 7 atrocities committed by Hamas, leftism has always been about symbolism over substance.
COP28, as the next conference is known, will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at which more than 70,000 people are expected to attend — roughly 25,000 more than trotted out to COP27 in 2022.
CHART OF THE DAY: A **forecast** that blew my mind. More than 70,000 people are **expected** to show up at #COP28 in Dubai.

If confirmed (note **if**), that's double the previous record, and shows COP is now a business on its own, as much as a climate change conference. pic.twitter.com/7sCqHapmHd
As is always the case, the 13-day conference — which runs from Nov. 30 through Dec. 12 — will dwell on "global strategies to reduce emissions and accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels in favor of green energy."
Joe Biden and John Kerry were seen furiously nodding in approval.
Here's more:
Conference attendees have drawn scrutiny in previous years for traveling to and from the event in private jets while lecturing on the importance of reducing emissions. Notably, a luxury concierge service has been offering to arrange private jet charters ahead of this year’s conference.
In addition to flying in and out of the UAE, many attendees will also stay in high-end hotels and have access to “environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, delicious and nutritious food and beverage,” according to COP28’s website.
One of the key issues to be discussed at COP28 is the shape of a so-called “loss and damages” fund, a de facto international climate reparations program.
Translation: Massive wealth redistribution, principally from the United States, to so-called "underdeveloped countries." Speaking of which, if your country isn't "developed" by the 21st century, chances are you're doing something terribly wrong.
This Year's 'Climate Gong Show'
Anyway, Biden's climate grand poohbah, the ever-smug John Kerry, recently suggested that the U.S. will pay "millions" into the "loss and damages" fund. I know — try to control your amazement. Dan Kish, a senior fellow for the Institute for Energy Research, blistered Kerry — and Biden — over the ill-conceived fund, in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation:
With John Kerry and Joe Biden promising billions in U.S. taxpayer money and beefing up the treasuries of non-governmental organizations with tens of billions of dollars in 2024 get-out-the-vote activist money, this year’s climate gong show was bound to attract record numbers of camp-followers, celebrities, kleptocrats, and other misfits. It’s as though they’re ringing the dinner bell which always attracts people looking for a free lunch.
Bingo. And is it any surprise? Hand out free money, and they'll come running as fast as they can. That's universal, whatever the reason or cause, however ill-conceived.
The 'Polluter Elite'
The "most comprehensive study of global climate inequality ever undertaken" recently found that the richest one percent of humanity is responsible for more carbon emissions than the poorest 66 percent of the planet's population.
While I'm not necessarily fond of stats like that, in this case, it does bring to mind the insanity of Joe Biden's hellbent efforts to take away your gas-powered passenger cars, washing machines, dishwashers, gas furnaces, and gas stoves.
Speaking of gas stoves, Kamala Harris was unavailable for comment.
The Bottom Line
Resist. In an intellectual, rational, and fact-based way. And do enjoy your gas-powered stuff in the meantime.
