As the Biden administration-caused illegal alien crisis continues to explode on the Southern Border with the expiration of Title 42 at midnight on Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) praised former First Lady Melania Trump as the model of legal immigration. (No pun intended, but, hey — why not?)

And in quintessential MTG style, as she spoke in House Chamber on Wednesday, Greene blasted House Democrats over the collapse of border security and their refusal to join the GOP and take action to stop it.

I would like to remind everyone that Republicans believe in legal immigration. As a matter of fact, we are very proud of our former first lady, Melania Trump, who immigrated legally to the United States. But there is a clear difference in policies when we talk about border and security for the United States of America.

I think it is very important to remind my colleagues across the aisle what our oath of office actually says. We swear an oath that we will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

That is a very important oath to swear and it is one to uphold but this is not being upheld in the past two years under this administration. We have seen nearly 5 million people cross our border and it is unsustainable.

As my colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported, the “Secure the Border Act,” (H.R. 2)  passed the House on a straight party-line vote, 219-213. late Thursday afternoon. For those keeping score at home, that means zero Democrats voted for the legislation.

That said, here’s the thing:

Regardless of how the House Democrats voted, Senate Majority Leader Chucky Schumer’s Democrats will likely kill the bill, and even if they don’t, there’s no way in hell Joe Biden would sign the legislation into law. Still, Greene’s comments were powerful and spot-on, and as is the case with all D.C. lawmakers, she was speaking to voters across the country who might see the video or read an account of her comments, and that’s a good thing.

Incidentally, Melania Trump had a successful career as a fashion model through agencies in the European fashion capitals of Milan and Paris, before moving to New York City in 1996. Nonetheless, she was regularly ridiculed by the left, including the geniuses of “The View” for her Slovenian accent. Imagine that. [sarc] The former First Lady speaks five languages — her native Slovenian and English, as well as French, German, and Italian.

In contrast, how many languages do you suppose Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sonny Hostin speak? Or, former First Lady Michelle Obama — who’s still worshipped by the left? My point is the left has unfairly blistered Melania Trump, a talented woman who legally immigrated to America, yet Joe Biden and the Democrats do their damnedest to import as many illegal aliens as they can, many or most of whom can’t speak a word of English.

Apologies for the digression, but left-wing hypocrisy irritates the crap out of me.

Meanwhile, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed the coming release of illegal aliens into the country without court dates, if Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) face overcrowding due to the massive surge as Title 42 expires.

As Republican and Democratic administrations alike have done in the past to protect the safety and security of Border Patrol agents and migrants in the event of severe overcrowding conditions, U.S. Border Patrol sectors may consider releasing certain migrants who have undergone strict national security and public safety vetting to continue their immigration processes.

Uh-huh. With thousands of illegals surging the border, I’m sure each and every one of them released into the streets of America will undergo the strictest national security and public safety vetting in the history of mankind. Please.

The Bottom Line

While I don’t often praise Marjorie Taylor Greene, her “reprimand” of Democrat House colleagues was well-played. And with more than 90 percent of likely general election voters blaming the federal government (see: Joe Biden and the Democrats) for the illegal alien invasion, MTG shares common ground — at least on this issue — with far more people than just her like-minded colleagues.

Politics does indeed sometimes make strange bedfellows.
