Biden Flip-Flops Again: Now Supports US Taxpayer-Funded Abortion — OVERSEAS

I’m sure I’m not the first one to make the observation this way, but “Joe the President” flip-flops on more positions he held throughout his entire career than the International House of Pancakes flip pancakes after church in a month of Sundays — and that’s a lotta pancakes.

As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, Nancy Pelosi’s House Democrat Caucus is fighting for taxpayer-funded abortions through international aid in a bid to overturn a decades-long bipartisan agreement. And there’s ol’ Joe, fighting right alongside her.

Why? Because, as Biden has clearly demonstrated time and time again — beginning with a flurry of flip-flopping executive orders on his first day in the Oval Office —  the Joe Biden of 2021 does exactly what he’s “advised” (read: “told”) to do by the rabid left.

Here’s where we are, as the WFB reported:

A spending bill advanced by the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs subcommittee Monday would repeal the Helms Amendment, which bans direct funding of abortions through foreign aid.

The bill would also repeal the Mexico City policy, known by critics as the global gag rule, which prevents the United States from funding international organizations that are involved with abortion services.

The policy has been implemented and repealed by presidents of opposing parties since its inception under President Ronald Reagan in 1985.

The Mexico City Policy

The Mexico City Policy — referred to by critics as the “Global Gag Rule” — was originally announced by President Reagan in 1984 and required nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to agree as a condition of receiving any federal funding that they “would neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations.”

Then-President Bill Clinton revoked the policy in January 1993 after taking office, arguing that “these excessively broad anti-abortion conditions are unwarranted,” adding that the policy had “undermined efforts to promote safe and efficacious family planning programs in foreign nations.”

Eight years later, then-President George W. Bush reinstated the policy when he took office. Bush said in a statement, as transcribed by CBS:

“It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortions or advocate or actively promote abortion, either here or abroad. It is, therefore, my belief that the Mexico City Policy should be restored.”

As if you don’t see the pattern, Chicago Jesus Barack Obama rescinded it again when he took office in 2009, followed by Donald Trump reinstating it in January 2017 after becoming president.

And? Yup — Biden rescinded the Mexico City policy on January 28 of this year. In a memorandum to his cabinet, he said, in part:

“These excessive conditions on foreign and development assistance undermine the United States’ efforts to advance gender equality globally by restricting our ability to support women’s health and programs that prevent and respond to gender-based violence.”

He even tried to use COVID as part of his reason (excuse) for his flip-flop:

“The expansion of the policy has also affected all other areas of global health assistance, limiting the United States’ ability to work with local partners around the world and inhibiting their efforts to confront serious health challenges […]

“Such restrictions on global health assistance are particularly harmful in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.”

Truth?

As I’ve suggested, multiple times through the years, everything a Democrat politician opposes, supports, proposes, or rejects can be connected to the voting booth with no more than two dots. (See: “Biden Border Crisis,” AKA: “Root Cause.”)

The United Nations Populations Fund — have I ever mentioned that the United Nations is the most corrupt organization in the history of the universe? — is a perfect example of the “before and after” effect of the House Democrat bill, as noted by WFB.

The Trump administration stopped funding the UNPF in 2017 due to its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party’s “family planning program” (which included forced abortion and sterilization). Under the Democrat plan, the UNPF would not only have its funding restored; it would receive a 50 percent increase.

Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, told the Washington Free Beacon that the Democrat plan amounts to “cultural imperialism of the worst kind.”

“Repealing the Helms Amendment and funding United Nations Population Fund would endanger unborn lives worldwide and represent cultural imperialism of the worst kind, attempting to impose leftist values on countries whose people overwhelmingly reject them.

“This extremism is also widely opposed by Americans, and Democrats will be forced to answer for it next time voters head to the polls.”

Needless to say, Alexis McGill Johnson, president, and CEO of Planned Parenthood has a “slightly different” take. The head of America’s Abortion Mill told WFB:

“Study after study has demonstrated that the neocolonialist global gag rule devastates health care access for people around the world, especially those who already face systemic barriers to care.

“And for nearly 50 years, the Helms Amendment has restricted people’s ability to make their own personal medical decisions, denying them access to comprehensive reproductive health care.”

“For years now, Democrats have made clear that promoting abortion at every opportunity is among their highest priorities,” Schilling told WFB.

“So it should come as no surprise that they are now pushing to use American tax dollars to export this gruesome industry overseas.”

Exactly. And the bottom line? The outcome of the decades-long heated debate now comes down to just two people and what they think.

One of those people — a certain House Speaker who trots out her “deep Catholic faith” at every politically expedient opportunity and in 2013 infamously referred to late-term abortion as “sacred ground.”

The other one —  a figurehead president who was warned by an archbishop in February to stop defining himself as a “devout Catholic” and who calls on-demand abortion an “essential health care service.”

Yet, the Democrat Party “laughingly” (read: “obscenely”) calls itself “progressive.”

How does that work, here? Never mind. Rhetorical question.
