I’ve suggested in the past that sometimes it’s “almost” like left-wingers sit around all day trying to concoct yet another ridiculous assumption, accusation, or otherwise nonsensical charge to throw at anyone and everyone who “lacks” their “understanding” of the world and all of its “evils.” Now, in the minds of some, having a baby is among those “evils.”

Case in point:

An op-ed in British Vogue earlier this week asked the following question in its headline:

Is Having A Baby In 2021 Pure Environmental Vandalism?

Yes, really.

Author Nell Frizzell suggested that people should first consider the “current climate emergency” before procreating, as picked up by The Blaze, despite the fact that she has not already given birth to a baby herself, but also that she “would gladly bring another human being into the world.”

Altogether, now: “The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.”

“For the scientifically-engaged person, there are few questions more troubling when looking at the current climate emergency than that of having a baby.

“Whether your body throbs to reproduce, you passively believe that it is on the cards for you one day, or you actively seek to remain child-free, the declining health of the planet cannot help but factor in your thinking.”

It gets worse. Actually, it gets more hilarious.

Frizzell wrote that before she got pregnant she “worried feverishly about the strain on the earth’s resources that another Western child would add,” including the food he ate and the electricity the baby would use.

“While gestating my son, and probably every day since, I have wondered whether having children is, in itself, an ecologically sound or unsound decision…”

What this woman — I assume “she” identifies as a “woman,” although one can’t be sure, these days — should wonder about is whether or not she’s too far gone for even a good therapist to save. I’ll take the “over” on “I doubt it.”

The crazy train continued to hurtle down the tracks, guilt-ridden as it could be.

“And yet, like millions of others, I did it anyway. I had a baby. I’d have another if my partner agreed. Is that because I am selfish, myopic or greedy?

“Did I simply learn to compartmentalize [sic] my thinking, choose to listen to the arguments that supported what I wanted to do anyway, or ignore what was right in front of my face?

“Perhaps.”

And like all good leftists, Frizzell feels some whacked-out sense of moral responsibility to the planet — at the expense of its inhabitants, which she believes gives her license to preach her silly sermon to the rest of us about having children.

Everyone who has a baby, she wrote, needs to be “learning to live within our environmental means, of turning away from the fever of consumerism and overturning a political system that rewards a tiny rich minority at the expense of everyone else.”

In other words, pretty much the worn-out mantra of the left about “the evil one percent,” wrapped in the “existential crisis of our time” narrative.

Human Progress, a project that provides evidence from individual scholars, academic institutions, and international organizations, took issue with Frizzell’s basic premise, saying dramatic improvements in human well-being throughout much of the world.

“Children do not strain the world’s resources,” the organization said on Twitter. “In fact, the opposite is true: each new child is correlated with an increase in resource abundance.”

Human Progress also pointed out another false premise in Frizzell’s screed.

Another dubious claim in the article: “Pollution now kills more people than tobacco – and three times as many as AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined.”

Air pollution deaths are actually going down. AIDS, Malaria, and TB deaths are just decreasing faster.

Irrelevant to the left, of course.

Facts and data mean zero to the left — even when they lie or mislead about them. What they count on is blind acceptance and/or low-information voters dutifully lining up like lemmings, no questions asked. That reality is constant — and it has been so for 60 years.

Evolutionary behavioral scientist and author Gad Saad nailed it with perfect dead-pan sarcasm — the best kind of humor, in my oft-sarcastic opinion.

“I apologize to Greta Thunberg, to AOC, and to John Kerry for having children. I will try to starve them to offset their carbon footprint.

Again, my apologies. I’ll do better.”

Emily Domenech, a senior policy adviser to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and co-founder of The Honor Project, a non-profit that works with volunteers to honor America’s fallen heroes, ridiculed Frizzell’s op-ed.

“‘For the scientifically-engaged person, there are few questions more troubling when looking at the current climate emergency than that of having a baby.’ This is unscientific trash, much like the rest of this deeply silly article.

“If you are lucky enough to have a partner, have a baby! Don’t let them scare you — this beautiful planet full of innovative people will continue to survive and thrive. So many of us will never get this opportunity.

“Don’t waste your chance to be a parent because of unscientific fear-mongering.”

And what of Nell Frizzell’s son? What are her hopes and dreams for that poor bast him?

“As someone who is attempting to raise a child with an awareness of ecological inequality, who tries to satiate his desires with human interaction rather than material consumption, who helps him appreciate the natural world, I hope that my son might contribute to future humanity, rather than destroy it.”

“No pressure, babe,” she wrote, in closing.

Sure, okay. No pressure. That poor kid will have gone through his life being lectured and programmed by his mother — and no doubt other left-wing loons who embrace the same insane constructs and narratives she does — and she says “No pressure, babe”?

What could possibly go wrong?

If there is proof that people should think twice —left-wing people that is — before having children, it is Nell Frizzell. You know, that Darwin thing.
