Capitol Police 'Adding Extra Security Due to Concerns About March 4', It's as Ridiculous as You Might Imagine

NBC News and various other arms of the Democrat state media on Tuesday sounded a “troubling” alarm over “law enforcement agencies” around Washington, D.C., “adding extra security out of concern about a coming date” — March 4, Thursday — that NBC claimed “has swirled online” among a certain (really scary) group.

Oh, noes. QAnon. Again.

“JUST IN: Law enforcement agencies around Washington, D.C. are adding extra security due to concerns about March 4, the day QAnon supporters believe Pres. Trump will be inaugurated.”

Could they be more stupid? Law enforcement agencies. Which ones? It’s assumed that NBC is stupid.

Yep, as reported by NBC:

An internal memo sent by the Timothy P. Blodgett, the acting House sergeant-at-Arms, which was obtained by NBC News, said his office “is working closely with the U.S. Capitol Police to monitor information related to March 4th and potential protests and demonstration activity surrounding what some have described as the ‘true Inauguration Day.'”

Blodgett wrote that plans are in place for “additional personnel” to “support the safety and security of Members [sic] and staff.”

Should we make it even stupider?

The memo said Capitol Police have “no indication that groups will travel to Washington D.C. to protest or commit acts of violence.”

According to NBC, an FBI official said last week that the bureau was aware of “the discussion among far-right groups that Thursday could be the next rallying point.” “The government is still working to address the events of Jan. 6, when a rally held by President Donald Trump morphed into a riot at the Capitol,” NBC made sure to include in its “report.”

Here’s more from NBC’s hard-hitting piece of shi excellence in journalism:

The QAnon movement has been broadly fixated on predicting dates when Trump would initiate a purge of Democrats, journalists and celebrities who it believes are part of a secretive cabal of child abusers.

President Joe Biden’s inauguration and the Capitol riot did cause some fracturing on the far right; some extremists turned on QAnon supporters, and even other QAnon followers started to question the movement.

Many others remain QAnon adherents, having adopted Thursday as the next day they believe Democrats will be arrested en masse or the day that Trump will be re-inaugurated as president.

The “sovereign citizen” movement, a 50-year-old conspiracy movement composed largely of radical tax protesters, believes there has not been a legitimate president since Ulysses S. Grant, who was inaugurated March 4, 1869.

Listen, anyone with a modicum of sanity knows the above is ridiculous. Sure, there are crackpots out there who believe it. Just like their crackpots who believe Melania Trump has a doppelganger who followed her husband around on the campaign trail, the Queen of England is a blood-drinking, shape-shifting alien, and nearly 12 million people believe that an elite class of space-traveling lizards rule the earth, Justin Bieber among them. So what?

On Wednesday morning, the plot predictably thickened, as (no doubt gleefully) reported by Axios:

NEW: U.S. Capitol Police issued a statement today announcing additional security measures after it obtained intelligence showing “a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4.”

Or did it?

Here’s the statement from Capitol Police.

The United States Capitol Police Department is aware of and prepared for any potential threats towards members of Congress or towards the Capitol complex.

We have obtained intelligence that shows a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4.

We have already made significant security upgrades to include establishing a physical structure and increasing manpower to ensure the protection of Congress, the public and our police officers.

Our Department is working with our local, state, and federal partners to stop any threats to the Capitol. We are taking the intelligence seriously. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, we cannot provide additional details at this time.

If law enforcement receives what it deems to be a credible threat, of course, it must prepare accordingly. Prediction? As with the case on Inauguration Day — or purported Inauguration Day [sarc] — Thursday will turn out to be another big, fat, nothing-burger.

Then again, I have always wondered about Justin Bieber.
