Xavier Becerra, Joe Biden’s nominee for secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, is consistent if nothing else. Try as they might during Wednesday’s Senate confirmation hearings, Republican senators could not get Becerra to budge on the question of which, if any, restrictions he believes should be placed on abortion. And how they tried.
At one point, as reported by Fox News, Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., asked Becerra straight-up to name one abortion restriction that he might support. No dice, the California Attorney General refused to answer; but he did talk about his mother praying the Rosary.

“Is there any line you would draw? Is there just one,” asked Daines, “just one restriction as it relates to abortion that you might support?” Becerra kabuki-danced around the question:
“I have tried to make sure that I am abiding by the law because, whether it is a particular restriction or whether it’s the whole idea of abortion, whether we agree or not, we have to come to some conclusion. And that’s where the law gives us a place to go.”
An honest answer would’ve been either “no,” or “I doubt it.”
Daines went back at Becerra, this time citing examples on which he personally believes restrictions should be placed, including “a ban on the lethal discrimination of babies who are diagnosed with Down syndrome or a ban on sex-selective abortion.”
And Becerra? “My job will be to make sure I am following the law.”
Mormon Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Tuesday asked Beretta to share his views on late-term abortion. Same result, same answer.
Frustrating as hell, for Republican senators and all those who oppose abortion to some degree, be it “automatic” abortion-on-demand, late-term abortion, partial-birth abortion, or sex-selective abortion? Of course. Outrageously so.
Should it be a surprise to anyone that Xavier Becerra, whose views on abortion were paramount in Biden tapping him to head up HHS, are undoubtedly extreme and without restrictions? Of course, not. Not in the least.

When your soon-to-be boss, the self-professed “devout Catholic” who was recently warned by an archbishop to stop claiming, views abortion as an essential health care service, and the Democrat Speaker of the House, who claims her “very deep Catholic faith” prohibits her from “hating” Donald Trump, refers to late-term abortion as “sacred ground“?

And when the Democrat Party as a whole, the self-ordained guardian of children and bastion of women’s rights, staunchly and vehemently supports the killing of unborn children on-demand and believes biological males have a fundamental right to participate in female sporting events, what the hell do you expect from these people?
Sorry kids, if you’re looking to today’s Democrat Party for even a modicum of morality, you’re not only barking up the wrong tree — you’re in the wrong forest.
