It wasn’t just the song.
Apologies to Joe Biden’s grandchildren, above, but the closing performance — I chose that word purposefully, given that the entire evening of faux outrage and everything else to do with the opening night of the Democrat National Convention was theatre at its best.
But oh that song.
Townhall’s Kurt Schlichter summed it up perfectly — in just two words.
Holy shit @TimRunsHisMouth…
Oh my… https://t.co/cdf1cN1LX0

The closing song, “For What It’s Worth,” was written by Stephen Stills as a member of Buffalo Springfield — later of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young fame — in 1966 — 54 years ago — in response to Sunset Strip curfew riots; a series of early counterculture-era clashes that took place between police and young people on the Strip in Hollywood, California.
Ah, it all comes together, now doesn’t it?
The history of the song matters, of course, because the Democrat Party has not only backed the continuing unrest in the now 85 days since George Floyd’s death; they’ve all but donned cheerleader uniforms, grabbed the pom-poms, and joined the rioters in the streets.
A quick read of the lyrics tells you exactly why the DNC chose the song.
There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to bewareI think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going downThere’s battle lines being drawn
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behindIt’s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our sideIt’s s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away…
Perfect, right?
I mean, the song could’ve been specifically written as the theme song of the 2020 Democrat Party. Actor Billy Porter sang; Stills accompanied on guitar. Fasten your seatbelts, kids — here we go.
Conservative radio talk show host Kyle Kulinski pointed out the obvious — although I’d kick that age up 10 or 15 years.
There isn't a single person under the age of 45 that knows who Stephen Stills, and why that song with an actor?

“Hollywood Resistance” got it, as well.
The loons on the left are trying to recreate the 60’s. Good luck with that. #DemocraticConvention

Based on the reaction of “Largely Peaceful Tsukkomi,” Hollywood Resistance might’ve been right.
That’s it, I’m switching parties.

“Nighthammer” brought along a perfect quote from Kiss frontman Gene Simmons to the after-party festivities.

But alas, my Democrat friends, your party’s obsession with the “wisdom” of Hollywood, musicians, professional athletes, et al. is as hardwired as it gets.

Kulinksi declared the performance to be “the moment Trump won re-election.”

The bottom line:
While out-of-touch-with-reality Democrats stage their virtual convention with the intent of showing America how in-touch they are, all one need do is harken back to Barack Obama’s 2008 analysis of Midwesterners: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them…”
And of course Hillary’s 2016 disastrous description of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables.”
That is the Democrat Party, folks — bizarre performances of 56-year-old protest songs aside.
