President 'Hope and Change' Emerges as Biden's Hatchet Man and He's Loving Every Minute of It

Ah, the good old days. “Hope and change” was in the air. The new darling of the Democrat Party was going to “fundamentally change” America. President Barack Hussein Obama ushered in a new day.

The reality was, during Obama’s eight years on his self-gilded throne (propped up by an embarrassingly-fawning “mainstream” media), America’s first black president’s “hope and change” gave way to racial division and class warfare, let alone his disastrous “If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor” lies about his “signature achievement,” the laughingly-named Affordable Care Act.

Anyway, that was then, this is now.

As the 2020 presidential election has inched closer and closer, President “Hope and Change” has morphed (gleefully so, it appears) into Joe Biden’s right-hand hatchet man.

That reality was never more clear than during Obama’s “eulogy” — divisive political hack job — at the funeral of Rep John Lewis (D-AL) in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. While President “If I Had a Son, He’d Look Like Trayvon” didn’t mention President Trump by name, his shots at Trump were unmistakable, as reported by my RedState colleague, Alex Parker.

During Obama’s enthusiastic hatchet job of Trump, he made sure to take a not-too-veiled shot at the President over his concern — and that of millions of honest voters across the country — about the legitimacy of mail-in ballots.

“Even as we sit here, there are those in power who are doing their darnedest to discourage people from voting — by closing polling locations, and targeting minorities and students with restrictive ID laws, and attacking our voting rights with surgical precision, even undermining the Postal Service in the run-up to an election that’s going to be dependent on mail-in ballots so people don’t get sick.”

No doubt Obama’s jab at Trump over mail-in voting was precipitated, in part, by this tweet from Trump, earlier in the day:

“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”

Following Obama’s trashing of Trump, blogger and radio show host Erick Erickson tweeted what we’ve all known for years.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson destroyed Obama during his opening monologue on Thursday.

“Obama claimed he was there to eulogize his old friend. But that’s not true, and that’s not what he did,” said Fox News host Tucker Carlson in his prime-time monologue. “Instead, Obama gave a divisive and deeply dishonest campaign speech in church.”

While Thursday’s Trump-trashing effort by Obama was his latest, it certainly wasn’t his first. Let’s take a short trip down Obama Memory Lane, shall we?

On Tuesday of last week, Obama slammed Trump during a high-priced private Zoom call with Hollywood pal George Clooney and other wealthy donors, as reported by the New York Times.

As Democrats like Obama and Hillary “Basket of Deplorables” Clinton are wont to do, the erstwhile President took a shot at Trump’s base during the call.

“It’s just glued to Fox News and Breitbart and Limbaugh and just this conservative echo chamber — and so, they’re going to turn out to vote. What he has unleashed and what he continues to try to tap into is the fears and anger and resentment of people who, in some cases, really are having a tough time and have seen their prospects, or communities where they left, declining. And Trump tries to tap into that and redirect in nativist, racist, sexist ways.”

Uh-huh. Same Obama, by the way, who during his own campaign in 2008 said of Midwesterners:

“And it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Elitist Liberalism at its “finest,” folks.

Obama also claimed Trump has been trying to distract from the Wuhan virus pandemic, most recently with his “his No. 1 priority” — defense of Confederate monuments. He said it’s a menace that “gives you a sense of what this is about.”

He pointed to what those “darker impulses” have led to throughout history.

“The endpoint of that we saw in Europe 60 years ago, 70 years ago — what happens when those things get unleashed. You don’t nip that in the bud, bad things can happen. Among the most quote unquote civilized societies.”

In a RedState piece in May titled, “Barack Obama Torches ‘Folks in Charge’ While Discussing Wuhan Virus Pandemic — Forgets to Look in the Mirror,” I wrote about Obama’s trashing of Trump over the latter’s response to the virus.

During a virtual presentation on Saturday titled “Show Me Your Walk, HBCU [Historically Black Colleges and Universities] Edition,” former President Barack Obama took (created) the opportunity to criticize “folks in charge” while talking about the Wuhan virus pandemic.

Barack Obama slamming “folks in charge” — of anything — is like Michael Moore trying to guilt-shame a top marathon runner for eating a Hershey’s Kiss after a long run.

Nonetheless, during his comments to students graduating from historically black colleges and universities that was live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter — in which he “shockingly” included thinly-veiled shots at President Donald Trump — Obama said:

“More than anything, this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing. A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

Same guy, of course, who manufactured the greatest healthcare coverage disaster in American history, all the while looking straight into the camera and lying to millions of Americans about how they would be able to keep their existing healthcare plans. Keep their doctors. Keep their hospitals. And to cap it off, he claimed that family premiums would decrease by an average of $2,500 in the first year. The reality? Premiums increased by at least that amount.

And in June, Obama slammed Trump for his “shambolic, disorganized, mean-spirited approach to governance” during a fundraiser for Biden.

Back to the former President’s comments during the Lewis funeral on Thursday, for a moment. Just for grins. Obama compared Trump to the late Alabama segregationist and Alabama Governor George Wallace, as he slammed the President for sending federal law enforcement agents to riot-torn Portland, Oregon.

“George Wallace may be gone. But we can witness our federal government sending agents to use tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators.”

Did you spit water (or whatever else you might have been drinking) all over your screen when you read “peaceful demonstrators”?

While Obama relishes his new role, the question is, does his former Vice President still have the mental capacity to carry his former boss’s torch across the finish line in November? Fox News contributor Dan Bongino is among those who have their doubts.

One thing is certain. The remainder of the 2020 presidential campaign is going to make 2016 look like a walk in the park. And with Obama sniping from sidelines, it promises to be even more “fun.”
