We’re heading into that time in presidential campaigns when things begin to get really interesting, as candidates attempt to gain as much momentum as possible as they barrel headlong towards their respective conventions. In other words, it’s popcorn time, America!

In Joe Biden’s case, “barreling” pretty much means remaining in his basement and continuing to say things that get him into trouble.

Or in this case, plagiarizing — verbatim — whole sections from Bernie Sanders’s playbook and presenting them as his recommendations for the 2020 Democrat Party platform. Poor form, Joe. Or as Ronald Reagan would say, “There you go again.” But we’ll get to that, later.

In a series of tweets Wednesday night, RNC Rapid Response Director Steve Guest laid out the evidence of Team Biden’s plagiarism.

Here’s the first example:

Biden:

Non-Police Responses: Federal funding to create a civilian corps of unarmed first responders such as social workers, EMTs, and trained mental health professionals, who can handle non-violent emergencies including order maintenance violations, mental health emergencies, and low-level conflicts outside the criminal justice system, freeing polices officers to concentrate on the most serious crimes. 

Sanders:

Sanders:

As Guest correctly noted, here’s the bottom line:

Bottom Line: Joe Biden has years of experience copying from others, now his task force is straight up copying from Bernie’s 2020 campaign proposals.

Let’s dig a bit further into that bottom line, via the wayback machine.

As I suggested at the top with my “There you go again” reference, this is not Bernie’s first plagiarism rodeo. By far.

Biden’s first campaign for president, way back in 1988, was marred by multiple instances of plagiarism. Biden “copied and pasted” from everyone from John F. Kennedy, to Robert F. Kennedy, and most famously, British Labour Party Leader Neil Kinnock.

Watch Biden closely in this video, most strikingly his faux-honestly as he lies about “thinking on the way over here” about how both he and his then-wife were the first members of their families to attend college.

As The New York Times reported, just last year, Biden created multiple concoctions out of thin air during his ill-fated 1988 run.

After having announced his candidacy in June, 2017, just three months later he conceded at a stop-the-bleeding news conference at the Capitol: “I’ve done some dumb things. And I’ll do dumb things again.”

He vowed that day to fight on. He quit the race within a week.

Here’s the thing.

Whether one opposes Joe’s (Bernie’s) recommendations for the 2020 Democrat Party platform, or not, is one argument — an argument critical to at least the next four years of the direction of America. What should not be debatable, is whether Biden has long history of lifting the ideas of others — verbatim — and pretending they’re his own.

What does that say about Joe Biden? What does it say about his grasp of his campaign’s recommendations?

Here’s the other thing. Biden said, that day — more than 42 years ago — that he had “done some dumb things,” and that he’d “do dumb things again.” Promises made, promises kept.

The question is, how many more “dumb things” can America accept from Joe Biden — and what happens if his future mistakes are far more serious than simply copying the words of others?
