It’s one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever read.
A woman about to abort her unborn child wrote a sadly naive letter to her child, which she refers to as her “Little Thing”. She is clearly deceived, fallen victim to the abortion distortion pushed by the radical left in the media and our society today. And the Culture of Death is reveling in her deception and pain.
Devastatingly, this woman truly believes that the life she is about to take is not a life at all, and that she will have another opportunity to have this same child sometime later. She honestly believes she’s doing the right thing.
She writes:
I am sorry that this is goodbye. I’m sad that I’ll never get to meet you. You could have your father’s eyes and my nose and we could make our own traditions, be a family. But, Little Thing, we will meet again. I promise that the next time I see that little blue plus, the next time you are in the same reality as me, I will be ready for you.
Little Thing, I want you to be happy. More than I want good things for myself, I want the best things for the future. That’s why I can’t be your mother right now. . . .
I love you, Little Thing, and I wish the circumstances were different. I promise I will see you again, and next time, you can call me Mom.
It’s heartrending. She’s been deceived into believing that being pregnant is akin to a Presidents Day sales event at a car dealership; there will be another one next year – if you don’t want this baby now, you can have the same baby later.
But in reality, once this life, this precious child, is gone, he or she will be gone forever.
As sad as this woman’s situation is, the radical left is using her to poke a finger in the eye of the pro-life movement.
Lane Moore of Cosmopolitan Magazine posted the entire letter with this visceral piece of editorializing at the end:
People who are pro-life often accuse women who choose to have abortions of being emotionless robots who have not given any thought to the decision they are making (something anyone with half a brain knows that is untrue). So this letter stands as an important reminder to people who are anti-abortion of the myriad thoughts and emotions many women experience when preparing for an abortion.
As an attorney for the ACLJ, who works right in the heart of the pro-life movement, I’ve never met someone who fits that heartless description.
It is the pro-life movement that is not only fighting for the right to life of the unborn but for those who have dedicated their lives to helping women, just like this one, in their greatest time of need. Pro-life pregnancy centers across America would welcome this woman and thousands of others with open arms, just as they do each and every day.
They offer assistance, support, and the truth about the unborn with the utmost love.
For Cosmopolitan to use this woman’s pain, confusion, and naivety as a pawn to attack those who defend life and dedicate their lives to helping women in need is an abomination.
It is the deception of the radical Left, the deceit of the Culture of Death, and the dishonesty of an abortion industry seeking to profit on this woman’s pain that has perpetuated a lie – a lie that an unborn baby isn’t a life and that if it is, you can just make another one, later, to replace it.
To anyone in this woman’s position: every life is precious: yours and your baby’s. You won’t hear that from abortion radicals. You won’t get the answers you are clearly seeking, and deserve. You’re being deceived.
To Ms. Moore, Cosmopolitan, and the pro-abortion mainstream media: don’t women deserve better? Don’t they deserve to be treated as human beings and not pawns in your radical agenda?
Every life lost to abortion is a travesty. The legalized slaughter of innocent human life remains the greatest civil rights atrocity of our time. As with every civil rights battle, it begins with the Truth and exposing those who are deceiving the masses.
