The hyperpartisanhip is highly popular among Washington Donks, and among the True Belivers out in the country. But most Americans hate it. They were coming off as trying to attack her for the sake of inflicting harm.
So is Schiff's.
Wonder if they got talked to or just decided strategically it makes little sense to go after her further.
Rubio: It's in the United States' interest to not allow Syria to once again be a playground for ISIS.
Why am I not surprised. I have lived in the two states that have some of the most idiotic representatives.
There is! She's not on Judiciary. Never fear, though. Alex Padilla just topped her idiocy and obnoxiousness here.
Thank you for that refresher, Chuck!
Also, props to Pam for pushing right back on Padilla without losing her composure.
Rand Paul: Do you see any carrots you can dangle before China?
Rubio focuses on the stick: Economic sanctions.
Padilla has lost the plot.
Oh - are you planning to threaten Bondi with disbarment, Alex?
Good morning (California time) y'all - I just wanted to pop in here and thank you all for joining us for these hearings and thank my colleagues for their stellar, tireless work covering them. I am currently in deep investigative mode related to the Los Angeles fires (cause/response/failures) and that's why I am not more active here on the liveblog.
My family has been fortunate and we haven't lost power or had to evacuate, but numerous friends have lost everything or, in one case, a family member to the fires. Thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes; everyone in the Los Angeles area needs them.
Sounds to me like Welch is a yes. I predict Bondi will receive bi-partisan support.
Rubio says UN Security Council is "almost irrelevant" due to China and Russia having veto powers.
Chris Wright makes a great point about global energy, and how many developing nations (Vietnam, Indonesia) don't have good options for "green" energy like wind/solar.
We're back! Sen. Barrasso's turn. He's been beating the drum on the importance of quickly approving Trump's national security team.
We are now 15 minutes into the 5-minute break at Rubio's hearing. I'm guessing they're getting the latest news on the ceasefire.
Saturday is Kfir Bibas' second birthday. Hoping and praying he's still alive and back home safely by then. (Along with his brother and mother.)
Senator Cotton is worried about allowing access to our national labs to Russia and China - it's a valid concern.
Pretty much the same with Rubio. No fireworks ... yet.
Chris Wright's hearing for Energy has been remarkably uneventful. The few Dem attempts at a "gotcha" were uncharacteristically subdued. I predict he'll be confirmed easily.
Five-minute break at Rubio hearing. Risch warned that's a "real" 5 minutes and not a "Senate 5 minutes".
The odious Chris Murphy trying to say Trump's foreign policy will be dictated by his overseas business dealings - Rubio pushes back hard.
