Top Democrats Rush to Biden's Defense As Pressure Mounts on Whether He Will Be the Nominee

Since Special Counsel Robert Hur's report, the Democrats have fallen into a frenzy. Over the weekend, members of the Biden administration and campaign team went on the Sunday morning shows to assure the American people that President Biden is up for the task of running the country.

Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas went on NBC's "Meet The Press" to talk about the border, as well as convince viewers that Biden is not in a cognitive decline.

The most difficult part about a meeting with President Biden is preparing for it because he is sharp, intensely probing, and detail-oriented, and focused.

I want to point out that there are folks who are in their late-80s, early-90s, some that I personally know, who are still as sharp as anyone. This has more to do with Biden's cognitive decline than his age as some in the media keep alleging. Time and time again we have seen Biden confusing world leaders, forgetting the names of people in his own administration, and speaking incoherently. It's sad to watch, and at this point, I can't see how the Democrats will roll out Biden as the nominee.

Vice President Kamala Harris claimed she's "ready to serve" if Biden steps down, while Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt suggested Democrats should get familiar with Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD).

As some in the party look for alternative options, top Democrats such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have come to Biden's defense, claiming that Biden's "mental acuity is great."

I talk to President Biden regularly... his mental acuity is great, it's fine, it's as good as it's been over the years. I've been speaking to him for 30 years... he's fine. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.

Schumer can try to cover this with the typical Democrat talking points, but the people see that Biden is in decline, and 86 percent of Americans think he is too old to serve another term.

As RedState reported earlier Tuesday, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claimed that Biden is "a very sharp president." Pelosi also claimed that Biden's mental acuity is different during private meetings.

I think his public presentation is okay. I think in meetings you see firsthand that he's on top of the situation. He knows what's going on.

Well, as the President of the United States, we would hope he knows what's going on. But the bar for Biden has been set so low that Pelosi is crediting him for doing the bare minimum.

As the media slowly begins to sour on Biden, we will see more top Democrats rush to his defense. But at the end of the day, if the DNC decides Biden could lose to Trump due to recent polling, they will yank him and put in an alternative.
