Enes Kanter Freedom is calling out LeBron James for his comments on the latest episode of his HBO show “The Shop,” when speaking about the Brittney Griner-Russia situation. As we reported on Tuesday, LeBron James criticized the United States when giving his remarks about Griner.
LeBron said:
“Now, how can she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even want to go back to America?’”
Following those comments by James, he tried clarifying his statement by saying his comments were not meant to be a knock on “our beautiful country.”
You call it a step back, we call this a walk back.
You are free to leave buddy or you can even volunteer for an exchange for her.
Some people literally have NO idea what is it like to live in a dictatorship.
Keep taking your freedom for granted. https://t.co/RG28O6co1E pic.twitter.com/QqpPuLrB72

Kanter fired back at James following the “clarification” of his comments.
“You call it a step back, we call this a walk back.”
Kanter did not mince words, he did not hold back; he told LeBron that he is free to leave America whenever he wants.
“You are free to leave buddy or you can even volunteer for an exchange for her.”
Kanter floated around the idea of trading LeBron to Russia for Griner, since LeBron does not seem to appreciate the freedoms of the country and opportunity it gave him to become a billionaire.
“Some people literally have NO idea what is it like to live in a dictatorship … Keep taking your freedom for granted.”
This is a personal topic for Kanter, as he has had a feud with murderous Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In 2018, Kanter’s father was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Turkish government. Kanter said this is Turkey’s way of attacking him for being critical of the country’s leadership.
“No matter what happens, I will continue to keep fighting for human rights and freedom of speech, justice and democracy above all … I will stand for what I believe in. All I’m doing is trying to be the voice of all those innocent people.”
Fascist Erdogan using his goons to keep sending me Death Threats.
This is ONLY some of the thousands of Death Threats I get every day.I will NOT stop until every innocent soul in Turkish prisons is set free.

Kanter also raised awareness about the Armenian Genocide. In 1915, 1.5 million Armenians were massacred by the Turks, and to this day, the Turkish government denies that happened. Kanter, who is Turkish, put out a statement on Twitter saying he got death threats in 2021 because he said the Armenian Genocide did, in fact, happen in 1915, and Turkey is guilty of Genocide.
The amount of death threats I just got in the last 2 hours is crazy for telling the truth.
I promised myself many years ago to stand up for human rights for all people.I'm for truth, no matter who tells it.
I'm for FREEDOM, no matter who it is for or against.I AM NOT SCARED https://t.co/oSx0HPnjQK

Kanter was outspoken during the Hong Kong, China situation. While the NBA, and especially LeBron, stayed quiet on that issue, Kanter spoke up in support of Hong Kong.
Kanter knows what a great country the United States is; he appreciates the freedoms and opportunities this country has to offer. We are the greatest nation in the world, even if some Americans disagree with that. The foundations of America are concrete.
