A Texas Democrat official was “compelled” to offer his resignation from his post on Tuesday after he referred to Senator Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) as a racial slur following Scott’s rebuttal to the President’s recent congressional address.

Lamar County Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor attacked Senator Scott with a degrading term meant to insult Black Americans whom some perceive as “acting White” just because they don’t toe the liberal line. In a now deleted Facebook post, the official  referred to Scott – one of just three sitting Black Senators and the nation’s only Black Republican Senator – as an “oreo.” Following the rebuttal speech, O’Connor posted this denigrating statement:

“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles.”

The post was immediately condemned by Texas Governor Greg Abbott once it came to light.

The post came to light on a Friday. By Tuesday, the Democrat leader had tendered his resignation and issued an apology via Washington Examiner.

“I am deeply and sincerely sorry for my inappropriate and hurtful use of racist term I used to describe Sen. Tim Scott on my personal Facebook page. It was insensitive, and I have embarrassed myself and my party by its use,” Lamar County Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday morning.

“As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee,” he said.

Redstate contributor Bonchie posited a few days ago that O’Connor would not resign.

I’ll go ahead and spoil it for you. There is no way, in my opinion, that this guy resigns nor that the Democrat party sanctions him for his comments. Consequences for racism are not a thing when it comes to those who proclaim themselves as woke. They receive the magic protector shield of social justice even though they are the largest, most discriminatory demographic with any power in this country.

Looks like one of the rare occasions when he was delightfully wrong.

From Joe Biden telling Black voters who don’t vote Democrat, “you ain’t Black” to the likes of Mr. O’Connor, White Democrats seem to be a bit too comfortable telling Black Americans how they should think and behave in order to be considered acceptable.

It’s almost as if they’re racists.
