The #resistance likes to fantasize about President Trump and everyone who works him as dangerously unpredictable, hot-headed and thoughtless.

It came as no surprise to see the usual suspects on social media fretting about Trump dropping off our best guys to send a murderer and vile terrorist to his 72 heavenly virgins a little early. It never gets old watching the American progressive left twist themselves into pretzels to defend terrorists, communism and any other murderous ideologies. If the consequences weren’t so serious it would be hilarious.

But President Trump is not the hot-head maniac his #fakenews stalkers dream about when they go bed at night. Soleimani is not some “sudden” boogeyman Trump brought up just to rev up his base. The Trump administration has been warning Iran about their guy and his behavior since he took office. In fact, one of the administration’s foreign policy goals coming into the White House was to make sure all the despots who had been laughing at Obama’s pretend “red line” knew there was a new sheriff in town.

Enter Nikki Haley. Two years ago she was our ambassador the UN. Two years ago she walked into the general chambers with a pair of brass balls and no clucks to give. She let Iran know in no uncertain terms that now that Obama is off to make bad movies with Netflix, there will be no more tolerating any tom-foolery.

For those worried that Trump is going to get us into a war,  understand this isn’t a case of Trump just throwing a dart at a poster of the Middle East and seeing who he wants to kill next. This was a move that has been in contingency mode for over two years, but more likely since the day Trump took office.

Part of Trump’s goal was to undo Obama’s disastrous foreign policy blunders; to reestablish American might and strength in the face of murderous regimes who enjoyed eight years of diplomatic farting around by the Obama administration. It should be of some comfort to those with concerns that all the plans for such a scenario as we witnessed last night have been in the works for years. It was only a matter of time before Soleimani and his sponsor state would cross the line and in turn welcome the rage and awesome power of the most powerful nation in the world.
