Rapper, mogul and “fashion designer” Kanye West has said in the past that he would seriously consider a bid for the White House in 2020.
In an interview with BBC radio this week, Yeezy confirmed he will run in 2020.
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he told Mac. “I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the (the) truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time to somehow make a difference while I’m still alive, I’m all for it.”
There once was a time when an arrogant, rich man who often depicts himself onstage as a hip-hop Jesus running for the White House seemed ridiculous. That time was as recent as 10 days ago. Now that America has elected an orange reality tv star to serve as its leader, all bets are off the table.
Could Kanye win in 2020? I don’t know. Pigs have been flying around since last Tuesday. Nothing seems out of the realm of possibility anymore.
Kanye’s Twitter supporters seem excited about the idea, at least.
