One theme in this crazy election cycle has been the great divide between the level-headed, working to identify problems and solutions, and the shrill, constantly attacking and seeking only soundbites. It’s clear which of the Republican presidential candidates fit into these categories.
Of the pundits and politicians surrounding the candidates, the divide is just as great. For conservative women, it’s quite obvious who should be our role model: South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Governor Haley’s Tuesday evening response to President Obama’s State of the Union address was a win for conservatives as a whole. But her brand of measured talk and logic doesn’t sit well with those like emotional Ann Coulter, who prefers yelling and disrespect, like her favorite 2016 candidate, Donald Trump. Much like Trump, Coulter’s #1 issue is immigration, but never in a logical sense. In an enraged anyone-who-suggests-common-sense-immigration-really-loves-terrorism-and-invites-our-doom sense. It’s ludicrous.
Nikki Haley says “welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of religion.” Translation: let in all the Muslims.

Just recently, Ann Coulter, a Trump cheerleader, subscribed to the birther attacks on Ted Cruz. Now, with dislike of Nikki Haley’s sense and grace flowing through her veins, Coulter went birther on South Carolina born Indian-American Haley last night, too.
Trump should deport Nikki Haley.

Yesterday, Neil Stevens’ post, Liz Mair exposes Ann Coulter as a one-issue fraud, called out Ann, the “detestable harpy”, for her cult-like love of anyone yelling about immigration, with no regard for actual conservative policy. In her response to the State of the Union last night, Nikki Haley presented the truth, which, as seen above, stings sensitive Ann Coulter.
Haley said…
“We need to be honest with each other, and with ourselves: while Democrats in Washington bear much responsibility for the problems facing America today, they do not bear it alone. There is more than enough blame to go around.”
“We as Republicans need to own that truth. We need to recognize our contributions to the erosion of the public trust in America’s leadership. We need to accept that we’ve played a role in how and why our government is broken.”
“And then we need to fix it.”
…and what really set Coulter off, which doesn’t take long…
“We must fix our broken immigration system. That means stopping illegal immigration. And it means welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion. Just like we have for centuries.”
“I have no doubt that if we act with proper focus, we can protect our borders, our sovereignty and our citizens, all while remaining true to America’s noblest legacies.”
“Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference. That is just not true. Often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume. When the sound is quieter, you can actually hear what someone else is saying. And that can make a world of difference.”
“Of course that doesn’t mean we won’t have strong disagreements. We will. And as we usher in this new era, Republicans will stand up for our beliefs.”
I heard nothing in Governor Haley’s speech that suggests foolishly addressing the immigration problem. I see what should be the standard for addressing issues of any kind in our nation: common sense focus coupled with conservative belief, which Coulter and Trump both lack.
Ann Coulter is screeching, emotional, and illogically lashes out when anyone, directly or indirectly, challenges her viewpoint, much like a liberal female. She is completely incapable of making a positive impact on the things which matter most. She isn’t a role model for conservatism or conservative women. For that, look to Governor Nikki Haley.
