Legacy Media Blasted by White House Over ‘Fake News’ About Cabinet Shakeup

The White House came out swinging against legacy media CNN's report alleging that President Donald Trump's team is preparing for a possible shakeup in the Cabinet, pointing out that it told the network it wasn't true, yet they wrote it anyway.

In a post on Friday on X, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the network's correspondent's post that read, "NEW: The White House is preparing for possible turnover in the Cabinet after President Trump reaches the one-year mark of his term. At least one of the agencies that could see change is the Department of Homeland Security."

It then linked to the CNN headline, "Trump officials prepare for potential cabinet shakeup after one-year mark," claiming this was according to "multiple people familiar with discussions."

"This story is 100% Fake News, and the White House repeatedly told this to CNN in the strongest possible terms," Leavitt wrote. "Yet they still wrote the story because their ratings are dying, so they thrive off drama that does not exist."

"The truth is: President Trump could not be happier with his Cabinet," she added. "Shame on you, CNN."

The initial report claimed the following:

At least one of the federal agencies that could see change is the Department of Homeland Security, the federal agency helmed by Kristi Noem that is charged with executing Trump's campaign promise of mass deportation. Sources also said there could be turnover in the Department of Energy, currently run by Chris Wright, a former Colorado fracking executive whose relationship with the White House has frayed in recent months.

The report also included a comment from Leavitt about there being no changes. It read:

"The cabinet is not changing no matter how much CNN wishes that it would because it thrives off drama," said White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

New 'Fake News' Claim About Trump and Flag at the White House Fails Badly When Facts Drop

Another White House official shut down the claim that Noem was on her way out, CNN reported in the piece.

"The President loves Kristi. He loves the job she's doing," one senior White House official told CNN, pushing back on the notion that the former South Dakota governor was on the chopping block.

Energy Department spokesman Ben Dietderich hit back at the notion that Wright's on the chopping block, too, in the piece.

"Just last week, President Trump called Secretary Wright' the number one energy person anywhere in the world.' No serious person is buying this anonymously sourced fake news," Dietderich told CNN.

Honestly, this has got to start being exhausting for the administration, fighting all the fake news out there from President Trump supposedly walking by an American flag that was lying on the ground, which didn't happen, to how the Iran Operation wasn't as successful as the White House reported, which was rebutted with facts.
